PK, I was always taught that if you can't take the heat then get out of the kitchen. It's really that simple, and anyone who says otherwise is a dumbass, end of discussion.

PK you stated......................
quote:
I am sure he has people here that will speak for him, but he felt as if the membership did not give him the respect he deserved.
Well we're all big boys (and girls) here and it should be a given to all of us that respect is earned, not automatic. Secondly, you reap what you sow. I don't know the guy, so I can't truly give an honest take on the guy. But if his real-life persona was like his internet persona, then I'd say his ego is, has, and will cause him problems. There was a thread where he and I were hashing it out, he had stated that if I'd spoke to one of his friends that way (i'd posted some crazy assed remark to fish, harry, otis, or someone) that I'd be picking myself up off the floor. This came out of nowhere, and it kinda let me know how the guy thinks. So really, none of this is a shock to me.
I wish I could remember the name of that thread, to see if my memory does indeed serve me correct. But this thread here seems pretty easy to disect????
I think it all started going towards the shitter when these comments were made.
quote:
I'm 51, been riding for 35 years... longer than most of you guys are old... so keep your
stupid remarks to yourself... duh
quote:
Gunner, do these guys PRACTICE being dicks... or does it just come natural for them???
Yeah, you could say he was joking. But it should be obvious now that he wasn't due to the fact he is outta here.
I will end it all with this, he should've practiced what he preached.
quote:
I don't get shitty with anyone until they start it... so don't dish it if you can't take it...
It's ironic that I feel he indeed did start it, and ultimately couldn't take it. What a fuckin' drama queen.
Oh yeah, just for the record. Anyone here can disagree with me and I won't pack up and go home like a little bitch. With some of the comments 238 has made you'd figure his skin was MUCH thicker. I don't get it............

Yeah slug, I looked at that earlier. No doubt the guy has tons of talent and has built some nice toys, but that still doesn't warrant respect.
This crowd can be harsh, and we've said it umpteen times, if you don't have thick skin then this may not be the place for you. You definitely don't want to socialize with the smackhouse crew if you can't take the heat. It's all in fun, and even if sometimes it isn't, we could give a fuck less.

Slug,
Good example, but not the thread in which I was speaking of earlier.
I've looked, but man I honestly don't remember the thread topic, who posted it or what. But I layed out a remark that was typical smackhouse bullshit towards Harry, Freek, fish or someone. Then he states that if I talked to one of his friends that way I'd be picking myself up off the floor, or something to that effect. For him to say that, it told me a lot about the guy, and I hate to say it, my hunch was right. Though I never held it against the guy, and even had some fun with him on here. It's sad really..................

Dang I got excited when I read "quite the board", then I read it again and it wasn't YCIS...........
I do believe some basic respect can be applied to most reply's to anyone here..... (including YCIS and KCADBY). However, 238 got very defensive rather than practical and balanced. He would have to understand the hazards in his mod, plus acknowledge the other perspectives and answers to increase wheel spin. We are all here to advance our toys, but the name calling that followed was really sad, not to mention mechanically flawed comments. I think it is best that he find a place better suited for him in the same way he can ride the bike on rims only, for less friction due to decrease surface contact area.
Didn't I read in the Cop Killer thread that he was a cop?

Sorry I didnt read all the posts on this thread so someone may have posted this... but there is an issue with the wheel spacer and fork spacing on (at least the 2000) zx12. The manual has been updated, but if you have a manual from when they first became available and you didnt get the revisions, then I can scan it and send them to you.
Maybe fish can post it.
Basically, in short, you need to have a gap between the rh spacer and fork.
After you put the front axle assy. together, tighten the axle nut to 94 ft lbs.
Make sure the left axle nut is seated against the fork.
Tighten the left axle clamp bolts to 15 ft lbs.
Pump the forks as hard as you can up and down a dozen times. This alows the rh fork to float to the neutral position.
Check the gap between the spacer and fork. It should be between .030" and .130"
This will take care of the famous dragging brake syndrome, assuming that the other brake components are in good working order.

Nope, it wasn't mentioned, Y2K. Instead, he yanked the dust seals from the calipers (SERIOUSLY) and got pissy when someone questioned the logic in such a "modification".

Red,
I yanked the dust seals from my calipers (SERIOUSLY!) 18 mo ago, and the front and rear wheels have been rotating without resistance since then.
This "modification" was suggested to me by a very serious RRoad racer, said he's been doing it for years (and he ain't young), never a problem.
I replaced brake pads about 6 mo ago (thanks fer the pads, Fish!), and pulled the pistons for inspection. No leaks, no scratches, no problems.
Is this mod for every type of riding? Nope, prolly not. Is is good ZX12 on the drag track?; for me yes.
What 238 got "pissy" about is the sanctimonious criticism he got from folks who wouldn't read his posts, but rather simply jump all over him for performing such a CRIMINALLY SUICIDAL, LUNATIC type of "modification".
Is 238 tempermental? Prolly so.
Is 238 a true motor-head, motorcycle maniac? Seems like it.

Thanks Entropy for lending a hand to Jere on this subject. Your respected opinion on this board may salage some creditability to Jere's decision to try something that most guys wouldn't have the balls to try. You got to admit it takes balls to take part of the seals out of your brakes. It's one of thoses things that you need to think long and hard about doing.
