Stumbled upon a easy fix....
2002 12...
Time for fresh brake lines, etc... as my front brakes feel sluggish... So I knock it all
down, and install the braided lines, pads, etc...
Go to bleed it out and I can't get shit... and I've done this for 30 years...
Master has crap in it or something...
Take off the master... add fluid, use my finger as check valve... nothing, won't move any
fluid.
Decide to clean it out... can't use carb cleaner, don't want to phuck the rubber parts.
So I see a container of rubber-safe solvent. Pour some in, tried pumping it...
Much to my horror, I instantly remembered I poured something else in that container...
Aluminum mag wheel cleaner!!!!
Real fast I pour it out and add brake fluid again to wash out the cleaner... and all this crap
and crud comes out... and the master now pumps real strong again...
I never thought of using mag wheel cleaner to clean corrosion out of an aluminum
master cylinder, but it worked great!!! And it does not hurt rubber seals...
Just something I stumbled onto....

Remember that Brake Fluid is Hydrocopic and pulls the water out of the air and sometimes though the Rubber Brake Lines. Every time you take the cap off water gets in which is why at least every other year the entire brake system needs to be cleaned out and new brake fluid installed on the dry as possible day.
Also to remember that Brake fluid is usually clear and when it is dark, it is time to change it. That is one of the first things I do when buying a used vehicle is to suck out the fluid in the master cylinder and clean the container and replace the fluid. The after a week or so, do this again but then bleed the Brakes so all new fluid is going into them.
