New Luggage Rack (photo's edited, attn Vmax Wayne)

Here is my latest creation. Having never motorcycle camped before, any suggestions concerning my packing would be appreciated.
The top bag is holding a tent, sleeping bag, & self inflating pad.
The saddlebags have clothes. The tankbag has bike related things.

The rack mounts on pivots that replace the forward luggage bolts. This allows the rack to tilt over the seat to remove the rear seat.

WOW that's nice work!!!

Looks like I could make a pad for it and it would double as a BACK REST for short people like ME

VERY nice job...

Thanks for the compliments guys! I made it out of 308 alloy stainless tubing, .034 wall. It weighs in at a bit under 3 lbs. Guess I should take it to the post office scales and get a better weight.

I don't have any plans on building another one, the man hours in it would make selling it a pricey proposition, I would have to get $150 to make a wage!.

Looking forward to meeting everyone at Laguna!!

My saddlebags are Oxford Sportbags. They expand to double their width, have a few nice pockets on the sides. Fish said they are very very similiar to Joe Rocket model.

"Stabilizers", I don't know what you are referring to.

The bags are carried by the rack, then the front portion of the bag has a strap that fastens to each passenger foot peg bracket to keep then from sliding forward, or flying like bird wings. On the rear of each bag is a d-ring to run a bungee or strap across above the license plate, which keeps them from moving forward.

Yup, P38's. Left the cover off the seat to avoid scratches and put the "protecter" sleeve on the rear cross strap. Ran the lower rear strap under the taillight and the front lower straps/clip to the upper bolt of the footpeg mount using the provided "female end on a metal strap" thingy after shortening it up. I took some appropriate sized washers and ground them down to fit into the recess of the rear peg mount and an extra washer under the lower bolt, just so everything fit nice and flush(call me anal). For paint protection I used some clear vinyl sticker material. Dad used duct tape as you can see on the slower red model.

BTW I just loop the front lower strap around the mount like Ozzy did when I use 'em on the ZRX and wifey's ZR7.

Ozzy, when my wife looked at it her first words were "Does He know you"?? Well thought out! You ride single. My deal was the Grab rail with the Folding seat back that I hang luggage from with her and put it on the seat without her. You go to the front of the class and get your Gold Star!

I forgot to add, it looks like you really made it to carry a six pack

Ozzy, I think that is a great set up man. I sure could have used something like that when I went out to Sturgis on my 11 ears back.

Scooter, where was that picture taken? Beautiful

Ozzy,
Very nice, but it's very similar to the one in the new Kawa catalogue for the ZX12! Maybe they stole your design - shoulda patented that one dude.
As for packing for camping, my only suggestion is that you don't get a throwover set of panniers and pack your toothbrush in the bottom, being left with a bike that has a perfectly recognisable toothbrush stuck to it for the rest of your holiday.
Doh!

Really nice welding though! Respect
