SP12.com (Geiger Sport) CF race cowl report
Just got in the CF race cowl from Geiger Sport, brief report for anyone else who may consider it.
#1, it is not a custom Geiger Sport item but a Sebimoto. Had I known that I would likely not have bought it.
#2, there are several places where the top clear layer -- whether this is only resin or resin plus clear coat I don't know, generally it looks OK -- has severe damage with crazing, chipping, being broken off, etc. The total damaged area probably doesn't sum up to greater than the area of a US quarter but it's in several places and if anyone had the idea of running the CF visible, fuggedabout it. However I expect Crashtech can fix it up nice and there will be no problem with the finished product there once painted Kawasaki Spark Black.
#3 They did not bother to drill the mounting holes. For that money, it should be done as a template can do it to hundredth-of-an-inch accuracy where doing it by hand may miss it by a little as it's hard to tell exactly how it's supposed to be aligned. An option of undrilled would make sense for race bikes, but since most will go onto bikes using stock mountings, standard should be drilled IMO for that price. At the very least they should have used a template to mark where the holes should be put for stock mountings, but did not.
#4 Despite being a B model design, it doesn't have the slots for a B model windscreen so apparently I have to go buy an A model windscreen for it, which introduces a little bit of a problem (besides needless added cost) because I liked the stock B model windscreen exactly as it was and I don't know what profile A model screen would be the same if any.
Overall it will probably come out very nice when finished, but, it has more problems to overcome than should have been the case at that price.
On the plus side, it weighs about nothing (haven't weighed it yet but to the hand) and with my replacement lights also being very light and the stock cowl + lights being very heavy, this takes a lot off the front end, which was vitally necessary for weight balance as a lot is coming off the rear plus the swingarm is being shortened.
But it might be that the A-tech could be the better way to go.

I'm sorry, I don't have a pic of mine, the one that just arrived.
It's 399 Euros, which is about $481.
But each order has about $65 in wire transfer fees as they do not take VISA, and then there's shipping too. So the wire transfer is not too bad if ordering a number of things at the same time, but on a single item it's pretty bad.
I was going to post the A-tech for comparison, because I thought there was an A-tech race CF cowl, but now I cannot find one. Maybe there isn't... perhaps the Sebimoto is the only choice? I don't know at this point.

In my case yes, as I'm not replacing the lower cowl.
Also I didn't think Catalyst had CF (or not really set up to do it the best way anyway) but could be wrong.
