Would a lockup be bad choice if I use the bike as a daily rider also?

Yes

You cannot pull the clutch in at High RPM on a Kawi with a lockup. It will pull the end of the rod off, due to the pressure of the weights. I would advise against it, not a real user freindly idea. I have driven mine around the neighborhood to keep the battery up, but a return road speeds, but I would not want to drive in traffic...........

OK....I need more understanding of the purpose of a lockup. I thought that they used the weights to apply added pressure on the plates to prevent clutch slippage and the bike gets into it high power band. Do they also allow a set amount of slippage off the line? If your clutch is not slipping during your runs do you need a lock up?

You can take clutch pressure out, like less than stock, and make it slip off the line, then use the weights to get you down track, right set up works great, bad set up is a nightmare......., you will have lots of bad set ups till you find what works good.

Besides, it is not the lockup that is getting me the et or mph. The pipe is. Just think of what the mph would have been and et with the powercommander. 5.9s at 125 or 126.

The lock up is actually slowing my short time a hair, just makes it more controlable and consistent.

I have a Lock Up on mine now and I removed all of the Weights to ride it in the street and foot shift without a clutch lever after 2nd gear. Put 100+ miles on my bike and no real problems MTC Lock up, I have4 mine so no clutch slipping on top end!

don't forget to factor in Karl's size......... ahem, I mean the engine size. As a percentage of cc's, he's going to get more than most. I would think that just the design/air-flow through the muffler part would be a large part of gains anyone would see.

The point I was trying to make was, it makes good gains on a stock motor, as well as the large motors we wish we all had, like Karl's.

if you are going to race a lockup is the only way to go.short times are better and mph is better. if it dont get better you are setting it up wrong. not saying that you are not getting better mph with the brock pipe, butt it is a little of evreything you have. i go 122mph in the 1/8 and i am 260 pounds. with a stock motor. butt i am lowerd ,pc3 ,muzzy pipe ,17-50 gearing ,MTC lockup( the only good lockup). leave @ 8500,63 1/2 wheel base, and remember i am a fat a$$. Now that i got that out of the way. who has a sidewinder and cutt pan for sale. maybe selling a 6 over mcIntosh swingarm or trade. thanks venting is over

No, stock pc, stock fuel pump, crancase vac mod, brocks pipe, ......go baby go.............

Call him, he will tell you, he can get more on the dyno out of a 12 than a busa.

Look at how much Vincent Hill gained with the Brock Sidewinder..........

I am averaging 137 in the 1000 ft, and hit 138 at 1000 ft on sunday as well. That is 150 or better in the 1/4 with NO PC!
