Ok here's what I need to know...
Made a u turn in front of my house day before yesterday to check my mail.. couldn't make the cut and bike went down.. it was only down a short while until my son and his friend helped me pick it up and put it in the garage.. It's an 03 will about 5K miles.. I started it up today and motor sounded a little funny so i shut it off and let it set for a minute or so and started it back up.. Oil light won't go off... I didn't want to run it like that so I killed it and restarted it two or three times for about 15 seconds or so and oil light won't go off.. What's up? Where is the sending unit? And, if that's not what is wrong then what do I look for? Thanks in advance for any guidance or help.. Mr Bill

Simple question:
How long did it run on its side?
> 30 seconds is a problem, > 60 seconds is definitely a problem.

shouldnt run on its side at all. has a tipover switch that shuts it off (as i understand it, and my experience confirms).
i'm thinking, try starting it while someone holds it upright, then see if the oil dissapears from teh sight glass as the pump moves it from the pan to the rest of the engine. if it doesnt move, then u know the pump (or something) is buggered.

You may have an airlock in they system. Get the bike up on stands, change the filter and oil. When you change the filter, fill it with oil. Don't just pour oil in and call it good. Pour oil it, roll the filter between your hands and work it into the filter elements. Keep doing this till oil starts weeping out of the little holes in the top. Top the filter off, then put it on the bike. There's a couple ways to roll the motor over without starting it. Easiest is pulling the fuse for the fuel pump relay. Roll the motor over, and you should see the oil pressure light go out after a few seconds.

It does have a tip-over switch, but there has been times that the switch has been known to not work.

Not being smart or anything, but just wanted to state some carelessness...
If you couldn't make the U-turn appropriately, you know you can stop the bike, put feet down, back it up a little bit and then finish the turn. haha, but seriously though, sorry about your mishap.

Thanks for tips my friends.. I'm upset that a fall over could potentially do major damage.

No need to change the oil filter. Just open it a littel (watch out there is oil) then start the engine with the oilfilter little loose. After couple on seconds oil starts to come out of the filter. Then shut the engine up and close the filter as fast as You can. And You're good to go. Check the oil level though because some of the oil has come away.
The filter don't have to be open very much - just so much the there is air passage. I do this after every oil change.

And it is weird that accoding the service manual US and Euro spec ZX12 have different angle on the tip-over swicth. The US-model dosen't shut the engine untill much later than Euro spec. Maybe it is You law system and Kawi don't want no possibility of engine shutting when not needed. But the same time it may not work the way it should.

Yep. Just crack the filter a little and start it up. When the oil starts to pump out screw the filter on the rest of the way. The pump is now primed...
Check your oil level after you do this.
