Anybody own a VW GTI 1.8T or Audi A4?

If you do or have driven either over several hundred miles opinions would be appreciated.

Only a test drive of the new GTI. Awesome, a real hot rod for the price. They wouldn't let me test drive the R32 until i did the paperwork for financing. I thought the 89 GTI i drove in High school was bad...the new GTI was just Bad to the bone. As for the A4--some preppie fag with his girlfriend got beside me and started acting cool...we all know the results if I'd WOT'ed his ass...I just don't have time to screw his girfriend, so I left him alone. sweet car, but I'd much rather drive his ole' lady.

I'm pretty sure there is gonna be a new 1.8T GTI in my garage by this time tomorrow.

I love my truck, but the $62 it cost to fill it yesterday (a once a week task) and the fact that we will see $4 a gallon within six months makes it an expensive commuter vehicle. If I used it more (for hauling) I'd hang on to it, but the big girl is thirsty for day to day stuff.

I'm test driving the GTI tomorrow morning. If they can round up the right car with the options I want, its done.

BTW - you know the turbo is faster than the VR6, yes?

Do You (US) allready have the new Golf? Because it has 2.0 liter direct injection turbo with 200hp? The old one was the one with 1.8T.

VW has come a long way from the times of my dads constant fight with his 'vw rabbit'
They are great cars with excellent resale, and aftermarket accessories. If you are looking for a fast car, its a hella lot more expensive, but the R-32 in just WICKED. Built specifically for the Autobahn. Also saw one that had around 600hp dual turboed.

Hah L2M, thats the car but I got the darker metallic gray.

Tuu, The platform 6 (I think its called?) won't be in U.S. Dealers until the 2006 model years start selling in late September/October from what I've been able to gather.

I wasn't concerned so much with getting the new platform as I was with getting a smoking deal on a 2005 towards the end of summer. Mission accomplished. ;-)

I gotta say the car is a hoot to drive and there is almost no turbo lag from what I experienced during the 80 or so miles I put on it today.

So you did pic up the '05 GTI? I'm jealous. I'll be looking at some entry level honda civics this weekend. 4X4 is parked indef, but I refuse to sell/trade it. I plan on riding year round, but theres those days when you just dont feel like freezin' your ass off or being rained on... pwith gas the way its getting, the car will pay for itself.

Yep. I went with the silverstone gray which is about 3 shades darker than the pic you have above.

Black leather interior, Luxury package (sunroof, Monsoon sound system), Cold weather package, 17" wheels, Electronic Stabilization system.

Definitely a lot of bang for the buck.

I was also looking at the Impreza WRX Ti, but that car is really small for me to fit in. Its pretty impressive with 300 HP though. Subaru is wringing a whole lot of power out of 2.5 liters.
