Why oh why do I visit the Snap-On guy?

So after 2 days of dicking around trying to get my obviously-dealer-setup-over-torqued swingarm cap bolt off (without destroying it) and growing tired of going from Sears to Tool King to God knows where else and trying to explain to some guy who should be working in the shoe department not the tool department what a 14mm hex socket is, I decide to call in the heavy artillery.

Yep, you got it. The Snap-On man.

Now those of you that know me know that I love tools almost as much as... well, not that much but close.

So I price out part # SAM14E online.

Cool, $25. I'm only taking $100 with me to work and that is the limit, no matter what I see.

So I call my Snap-On guy and sure enough he is going to be a mile from my office this morning. And by the way, Bob, say hi to the wife and kids. The plan is in action and I've got a $100 limit. Thats it. No more. Nada. Self Control.

Of course when I start strolling through the vehicle of wonder (the Snap-On van) I realize that I need SAM12E to make removing the steering cap bolt easier, and I need A2A so that I can use my 3/8" torque wrench with same.

And ya know, come to think of it my old impact wrench is shot too. Gary, give me that one!

So the question I have is, has ANYBODY actually gone into a Snap-On van and actually walked out with exactly (and only) what they went there to buy in the first place?

Blitz baby ya know I love ya, so I'm going to give you some straight up counsel. Putting $5,000 into an A model 12 is fucking nuts, time to put her out to pasture (buried) with a white cross over her. A second generation zx10 is coming and I have a feeling it's going to be awesome. 12s are obsolete, time to move on.

Wrong, now is the best time and then put is aside and buy the next one so you still have a MINT Original before they become too expensive to fix up!

00's are now bringing $6,000 to $7,000 and the 02's are about $5,000 it has already started to happen!

There is way more potential in the 12 than the 10, when was the last time you saw anything over 300HP from a 10 (that would hold together for more than a couple passes). For a 12 that's pretty common on gas or with small turbo's... Just my opinion but I'll keep the 2k12R I've got now rather than dream of something that might be coming out next... besides I've heard the third gen 10 will be even better, shouldn't we wait for it

Blitz that's why I don't buy from Snap On anymore. Now I go to Habor Freight. Then after I buy everything I want, I still have money left over for beer. You could have gotten everything you bought at HF for 47 cents!

Mlb, Scoot and I are canyon carvers, we live for chicanes and placing a precise line though a corner like a Olympic skier moving through the slalom, a thing of beauty when performed properly.

A man can never treat his A1 too well BlueFord. ;-)

And I agree with Vince. The A1's have pretty much bottomed out depreciation wise. A pristine, well maintained one is going to be worth some bucks down the road. Its the way it works. Attrition, the 220 mph speedo, no speed limiter. They are the Hemi 'Cuda of the 12's brother.

I rode a zx-10 last time I was in Cali. Great bike but waaaaaay too small for me. I felt like a gorilla screwing a football riding it.

I have been see-sawing between a Duc 999S and BMW K1200S for my next bike and have pretty much decided on the bimmer. I like a bike I can kick back on and rattle off 500 miles when I want to. The zx-10 is definitely not a long distance mile burner like the 12 is.

Hey Bob, remember that A1 that I helped my friend pick up a few weeks ago? Well he called me yesterday and said that he couldn't believe how high the insurance is so it's for sale. Guess what I now have an A1 & A2!!!!!! Life is sooooooooo gooooooooood for me to be so evil. At least that's what my Ex says, but then again what the hell does she know?

Ya know Gunner, I found a crated A1 about a year and a half ago and I can't tell you how close I was to buying it and packing it away.

I ended up buying a new pickup instead, but I know 15 years from now I am going to be kicking myself in the ass for missing the boat on that one.

Congrats on the new acquisition. Is it a driver or mothball vehicle?

Driver. Prolly going to let the the girlfriend ride one of the two. If it was crated I would mothball it, but life is short and these things are made to use. Kinda like having a super model for a wife and not humpin her brains out everyday. Why have it?

Snap on, it's the good shit.

A 1/4 drive swivel socket may cost $30.00 compared to the $7.00 sears, but when you need it to work - it's going to work and not break.

That was the last trip into the truck. I wanted a cotter pin puller, and left with a $190.00 set of 1/4 drive metric swivels

Shit Jere. I never looked at it THAT way.

Hey Gunner, I've only totalled one 12 out in my life and I'm an Orbitz Gold member - I can travel anywhere, anytime with 3 hours notice.

Let me know when bro and give me the A1, I'm used to them. :-)
