power commander and can (Technical)
could anyone help me. I have a 2002 zx12r and have recently put a art can on it. I have been told that this increases the heat in the engine and doesnt allow petrol to be splashed onto the valves therefore they can burn out. how true is this?
Is it better to run a power commander with this?
Regards
Mat

whoever told you that is full of crap....to put it nicely. If you just installed an Art, make sure you hammer out the cat so it doesn't charbroil a beautiflu pipe like the Art.

a PC is a good idea for an aftermarket can, but generally isn't required for just a slip/bolt on. however you will be able to squeze a bit more power out of it, and more importantly you can solve that nasty throttle on/off abruptness (which i hope to test this weekend).

If you have fuel "splashing" onto the valves, your motor is only going to last about 30 seconds, so it doesn't matter. :-)

hey Canadian.. it depends on the model year... for instance I've found that the 04 10R seems to run better with a slipon and no PC3. The '00 12R definetly ran better with a PC3 with either a stock or aftermarket exhaust.

100% agreed. You do NOT need a PC3 for your pipe. Mike bike always ran better WITHOUT IT at the track, and I had a Muzzys pipe.

for people who say their bike "run better" without a PC3... how many of you had CUSTOM maps made (you took the time to have it dyno'd and mappped) ... or are you talking about running maps you download from the 'net or DJ's website?
