Rode the old YZF to Livermore, CA and back...

Last month i took a nice loing cross-country trip to California.

I left July1st, at 6pm from oak ridge, and got home saturday July 16, at noon.

We went through most of tennessee, missouri, arkansas, oklahoma, new mexico, colorado, arizona, nevada, california, back across nevada, utah, back downthrough colorado, kansas, and back through oklahoma and arkansas.

One minor breakdown along the way, one major. the minor was a front brake pad let go outside of nashville. FInally found someone that had pads in flagstaff, AZ....
Major one was just after crossing from kansas back in to oklahoma on the return trip. #3 sparkplug worked its way loose, and was firing through the plug threads and melted them down...
Noone in tulsa or little rock would mess with it, "take it to a machine shop they *might* helicoil for you"

so i rode it on 3 the rest of the way home. total milage: 5940. rear tire is square...too many straight roads in this country.

I don't have any commentary or labels yet, but i do have some pictures (400 or so) up for perusal.

Enjoy!

actually my neighbor's son, but he definately won't forget the trip.

this has been a dream since i bought that bike in '99

for the last 5 i thought it was more accurately a 'pipe' dream.

anyway i have a bit more vacation time here so i was able to swing it.

Great trip slug. My solo trip from Michigan to the Black Hills of South Dakota on my ZX-11 is a trip that will live on as the best vacation ever. I still remember everyone of the 12 days just like it was yesterday.

hehehe

it ran fine though ;P

except under 3000 rpm, had to feather the clutch a bit

but due to the amount of time since i had talked to you last being so great, i never thought you'd STILL be there in texas...

hrmm 400 miles, howlong would that have taken you? 2 days?

I guess it all depends on who you call (or don't call, in this case) in Little Rock. I'm might have been about FOUR miles away (from where I-40 & I-430 meet).
