I went down without gear...

..and I was riding a longboard, it was brutal. Was cruising out of control at about 10-15mph, and went flying off the board onto the asphault. I took some nasty road rash all on my arms, my palms are destroyed, tore my jeans and my knees all up, and am limping.

I should have had my gear on and that was just a longboard. I could not imagine going down at higher speeds on a motorcycle.

That is the EXACT reason Why I always wear my FULL Gear.

I would rather sweat my ass off out here in Arizona, than look like Pizza with the cheese tore off!

Damn , hope you heal up well and fast. Especially those palms.

I'm sure those that have read more regularly over the last couple of years than I have know your age better, I am just guessing, I had the impression you were in your 20's?

If so hopefully the healing will be fast!

Well, I mean even if not I certainly hope so, but what I meant was your chance is better.

Yup, many have no idea what the pavement will do... especially to the hands (I just cannot believe those who don't wear gloves, call me stupid but I'd leave off the helmet for a short low speed trip before I'd leave off the gloves, not that I'd leave off either)... hope those palms heal up quick.

Nick Ianatch (sp) once said during a riders clinic held at Laguna Seca during the 1994 500GP that the single most important piece of safety gear after a helmet is a pair of gloves. He stated: how do you change the rest of your bandages when you hands are all bandaged up?
