Well I go into the dealer and they keep saying they are going to get into the bike, and still have yet to take it apart. The dealer has just been slammed with business. Kawi decided to do some rebate deal on the 10R so the 05's are flying off the showroom floors around here brand new for $9500!!

Anyway, they pulled the oil pan and found "chunks of metal" in it. I spoke to the service manager, and they have booked this upcoming Tuesday for my bike. He said they are going to rip it all apart no matter what this Tuesday, that it will be quite an ordeal. He said the twins can be fun, but these inline fours are a huge job of getting into the motor. They are going to check the tranny and anything/everything associated with it.

On a side note, he suspects a rebuild is in order. I asked about getting a new engine, he said Kawi doesnt have brand new 12R motors laying around, that it will most likely need to be rebuilt, but that my warranty will/should cover it. He knows how anal I am about taking care of that engine with the regular maintenances.

So Tuesday, I am going to stop into the shop in the late afternoon and take tons of pics of my baby all torn apart, and see some sort of status.

So I guess for now...I just say stay tuned...I am anxiously looking forward to riding her again. Friends have been loaning me 05 636's and 10R's and I just miss all the torque the 12 has.

sigh

Hey Beans don't Muzzy's have 12R motors? I think the 12 motor can be had in crate form. I would check a little more on this.

I took tons of pics and will post them sometime. Basically the third chamber grenaded just as Dino and others suspected. The dealer said the entire engine looked in cherry mint condition. There was metal everywhere, it is gross to look at when I went back there to see my bike and the engine. The dealer told me there was nothing I could have done to cause or prevent this from happening, that the other three pistons and chambers looked to be in excellent mint like new condition, just as they should.

Anyway, they submitted the warranty request and it was approved by Kawi, the entire job will be well abobe $5500 in work, all good to go.

I am looking at getting the 12 back within a couple weeks (hopefully).

I just bought a 2005 ZX-10R, wrecked but a clean title with MSO in hand, it's a story I'll post up later, but I'm bleeding more green than ever these days! On a side note, I may be taking delivery of a Ducati 996S (#17 on the triple tree cover from Ducati in Alburqurque, NM) to add to my collection, it looks soooo suweet!

That's my update. Havent been on in a bit, business has been killing me for time these days, but this holiday weekend will be used to catch back up on everything.

Talked to the dealer today, they had the engine all back in my 12 ready to rock 'n roll, but the service manager said it is burning oil. He said its usual to be burning some oil initially, but the shop felt it was burning too much at the time, and since it is under warranty repair, they want to re-pull the motor back out and go through the block and check through to make sure the seals, rings, pistons, etc. is all ok and that their is no oil leakage anywhere.

So for now, still no motorcycle to ride...

I was really hopin' to be ridin' by now. Guess it's just not my time...

$5000 for parts and labor, mol. I would think it would have been far faster, cheaper, easier for Kawi to just drop a new crate motor in it then have some incompetants overhaul it and risk another bill on another rebuild!
EL, why do they do it this way?
