Gearing for the 1 / 8 or 1 /4 mile

When it comes to gearing would 16 - 52 be to much .Curently using 16 - 44 stock motor other than , clutch basket an fibers , filters , Hindle step system , air shifter , lowered an strapped extended about 4 inchs , Shinko 003 tire , 178 hp , no NOS , no wheely bars , best to date 9.34 @ 148 mph . I am 145 lbs . Also could you expect better times using a non o rind dragrace chain. Thanks Don

Thanks Nukedog, but extremely well just is't good enough. I am looking for about 9.03 or better with new gearing . I know I can do better than my current best , hooking up off the line is the problem , I was givin some tips on setting the rear end up over the winter , I have yet to try them , but will with the new gearing . Hey Crotchrocket what your current best time , an what rpm are you leaving the line at , I thought you had NOS on your bike ? I am launching at 7000 rpm on the tach. Iam running a DID X - ring chain was going to use a DR chain for less rolling resistance thinking it would mean less lost HP but was told it would not make a differance . Your thoughts ? Care to share your thoughts on setting the rear suspenion up . Thanks Don

Hey I was wondering what the stock sprockets are for a 2000 ZX12R. I recently bought one with 17-47 and when leaving the line at 7000 it's cutting out, slowing my 60ft time down.

you are correct. and gearing is not going to have anything to do with your bike cutting out. you might want to look into other things.
