Who here has figured it out?

The ZX-12R is going into its third year. Most of you guys (and girls) have done some pretty heavy (and Expen$ive) mods to your bikes. Having experimented, and changed things around, I have two questions.

1. If you were the Head Engineer at Kawasaki, what would you of done differently?

2. What was done to the original (pre-release model) to curtail its performance?

1. I would have given it two mufflers for better exhaust flow (one of the major advantages a stock 'Busa has).
2. Nothing

Don't bite the hand that feeds....

Doug I believe that you are one of the greatest experts/riders of Kawasaki's and ZX-12's. Don't take this wrong Doug, but there is no way that they would of put out a bike of equal (or to some people's thinking) lesser numbers than the Hayabusa.

And the Display at the show could of had more stuff.

Look, I've witnessed this horse being beaten for two years now. I have one of the original pre production engines. I know it well. I rode(as did Rickey) a pre pro bike. The production bikes were better. I rode three different stockers over 192 over a mile in awful air (Maxton in July). I rode one of those 199.5 (.001 second less than 200 mph) with only a pipe in the same shitty air.
Anyone who feels that the 12 was slower than the 'Busa is basing that on what is generally believed to be bogus, non repeatable speeds on the 'Busa. Give me 5 miles of cool German air and I'll show you 200 as well.

I would have intergrated the front signals like Zxtra said. Maybe chang the stock front brake junction and put a little splash guard in front of the swingarm.
But that would be it. (maybe some D ring fairng fastners)

a better seat, less vibration, and a more accurate speedo. Other than that nothing else, it's simply the best as it.

Doug, well said!!! As time goes by I am beginning to understand that these bikes are pretty well done. The 12 will go as fast or faster than the Busa. Almost every time the two went head to head the 12 the Busa got the fuzzy end of the lollypop. People still think the magazines actually aren't biased. They also think that some mfgs. don't put in ringers. I love my 12, I don't drag race so my clutch is perfect, although I copied Muzzy's idea on drilling holes in the hub then putting a flat spot on the pull shaft. Drilling bigger holes in the exhaust, filters and timing was just right. Still quiet, super smooth, and does power wheelies even at this altitude.
What would I have changed? I'd have finished the cockpit better, to shut up the fit and finish bullshit. I would have taken care of the drivetrain backlash from the get go. For the way I ride the bike is almost perfect except for the suspension dampning.

1. Replace plastic fasteners with something better, make front seat better, lighter and cooler mirrors, smaller but still visible blinkers, aw hell....just make it the same price as a Busa so it would have sold better. STILL a better bike!!
2. Nothing, it is all in your imagination.

I can't believe that I forgot this one....

Why is it the ONLY KAWASAKI made that doesn't have a center stand? Even the Hayabusa.....

Yeah, I know...

I got screamed at (of course it was on a Hayabusa post) for believing that video was real.
