mine was just totaled - got hit from behind by another rider not paying attention - I was going about 5(makeing a turn) - he was going about 55 - I flew about 20 feet and broke my collarbone. Just got a new 01 Silver 12R for $8700 delivered. The green 00 had 10K worth of damage...

Here in Arkansas...

I believe about 75% of the '00 and '01 12Rs sold in Arkansas are either totaled or blown up. I thought I was the only one in these parts that can't ride worth a shit! Geez!

Sherm, you forget 3 is 75% of 4....lol
It would be interesting to see how many have been totaled by insurance companies.
Anyone in the industry could certainly research it. All they need is the first production # and last one.
Im curious as to how many 2000s are still sitting in dealers showrooms??
I think my local dealer has at least 1. Anyone else?

I guess I don't ride worth a shit either

Cause my 12 would have been totaled but I didn't want another bike so I settled for $6500 and keep my bike. It handles better now than when it was new.GMD computrack made it better than new and I have much better suspension.

Okay, 68.75%

I'm guessin' that there has been around 16 '00 & '01 12Rs sold in the state. I only know of 5 of them that are still "rolling". Of those 5, just 3 or 4 of them are still street legal (one is set up solely for drag racing).

Of course, 16 is kind of a "high end" guess. The number could be as low as 11~13 sold.

Okeee...I know of at least 6 sold up here in WA, with none totalled. Course, there's a fair amount of riders up here that only ride 4 months of the year.

I know of one!!!

It was the only other ZX12R in my area. I went to the dealer to get the recall done on my ZX12R and we see this wrecked ZX12R.

The guy said that it was dropped of a trailer while loading.................WHATEVER.....Looked like 180 degrees to me!!!!

wreaked 12

I put mine down a little less than a year ago. Couldnt make the turn, hit the curb head on ( couldn't " pop " it like you can on BMX ) So, ole Green went to the big parts yard in the sky. had a breif stint on a RC-51 , until I found another BFN 00 RED in the crate down in Houston. They still have several in crates , in case anyone cares...the worst thing about the accident was it happend less than 20yards from where I was meeting 20+ guys for Sunday ride in the country... grrrr. o-well. lesson learned.

I totalled mine on August 4, 2001. I ran into gravel in a right hand corner, that caused me to cross the center line and hit a car head on. I was doing 50mph, I don't know what the car was doing. But it broke my ZX12R (the fast red one) in half. I had it towed to my dealer, and when I got out of the hospital 9 days later, I made my wife take me to see it before I went home. When I walked in Rick (the owner) shook my hand and told me that he had never seen any bike torn up as bad as mine, regardless of whether the rider was dead or alive. The only thing not broken on it was the rear wheel.
I know I had some divine help in that wreck or I wouldn't be sitting here planning my trip to Gap 3.
See you guys in May. :-)

Steve

Of the five guys in this area (Eastbay) I have ridden with on ZX12R's, four of the five have been totaled. One of them twice, one bailed in the lights at 143mph (broken arm), one found a milemarker post (rider is now paralyzed from mid-chest down), one was re-sold to a local for $1,250 (!!!!) who fixed it & still rides it, & one went to Georgia & fell off the face of the Earth since then (ping: Dohboy!)

I'm afraid to say this...I'm the only local to survive two years on the Big Ninja...

Welp never met ya but there is another local here that made it through at least the first year. Live in Concord. Then again I do not take this bike anywhere near its limits, mostly into straight fast runs and the daily commute to SF. Then again that commute has to count for hard cornering, just as dangerous.

You forgot about me, dude. I bought both of my 12s at Lake City Honda Seadoo Kawasaki. First one I took delivery on April 13, 2000. Totalled it in Cali on Apr. 14, 2001. Took delivery of my second ZX-12R in Seattle on June 8, 2001. So far, so good. My second 12 is more powerful than the first. And yes...it's fuckin' RED, baby!

Hey Brian! WE got to RIDE sometime dude. I know a bunch of people in your area, they meet in Walnut Creek every Thursday nights @ La Scala's for happy hour. Bunch of them hang out on LaBusas.org (NorCal section.) They like to go North into the Napa wine country on Sundays...

We are supposted to ride Sunday morning; probably EastBay area. Either Grizzley Peak/Skyline & vicinity ("The Wall" if you know were that is.) Or possibly Mt. Diablo, or Mt. Hamilton/Mines Road. FYI: I'm in San Lorenzo...
