I have two question if my gearing is 17/48 how far is my speedometer off at 60 mph. Thats the speed limit on the highway in Washington? Second questions what do I need to buy to correct the speedometer? Thanks

...I have the same 17/48...I think it now reads 15~17mph faster...you need a yellow box from www.blackrobotics.com...the box will interface with your speedo and provide the speedo with true speed readings...I have yet to install mine..maybe this weekend...

I've installed four of them so far... Piece of cake!
Some like to install it back by the speed sensor, but I installed mine up by the instrument cluster. It's not waterproof, so whereever you install it, wrap it it something. I put it inside a nitrile glove and then tape the glove shut.
With regard to how much you will need to correct, the stock speedo is typically off 8 percent. The stock gear ratio is 18/46 = .391 So your new ratio is 17/48 = .354 which is about a 10 % change. You'd prolly be safe with setting it for a total of 16 - 18 % change.

321 - If you swing by Performance Dyno, that's a quickie for me to verify, btw...I can sit the bike on the dyno and quickly set it dead nuts accurate. In fact, it wouldn't be too big of a hassle for me to order one for ya and install it, if you want. Give me a shout at lseratt@home.com, and I'll set you up.
