Wheelie question?????
What's the easiest way to wheelie in second or third gear? Give me some tips. Speed, rpm's and all that good stuff.

I like to clutch them up. A little more consistent for me. It dosn't take much of a tug in second to get her up either. Take your time and try to find where it balances at. You will know when you reach your balence point when you do not need to keep speeding up to keep the front end up. In second I go about 50 I think and rev er up a little and dump the clutch. Kinda a feel thing, Don't know the rpm or nuthing, just feels right.

In first I just give it about half throttle and its on one wheel, 2nd gear just nail from about 75 or 80 mph and it will pull the tire off da ground again.

I clutch them up in second or third. Whats the difference? I can yank em up also but I prefer to use the clutch. I do not wheelie the 12 much anymore. I have a couple of bikes that are alot better for wheelies/tricks.

You mean the 12R will wheelie????
Damn I'll have to go try to ride one on my 12.
Honestly I think the 12 is and excellent wheelie bike, seems very composed on the back wheel at high speeds. I usually use the clutch in second, but power it up too. It just depends on what kind of riding I'm doing. The benefit of using the clutch in second (or 3rd) is you can get the bike up at a slower speed and "usually" get to ride out a longer wheelie. That's nice when you're on a good straight stretch of road. But I love how my bike powers the front up when exiting some good 60-70 mph corners. That's some fun shit.

Good thing I notice most are smart enough to clutch it in second, third, etc....
DO NOT CLUTCH IT UP IN FIRST!
This squid about looped it trying to show off in first one day. Never again...

I just searched for this thread. I noticed that in first, the 12R will wheelie from as low as 4K revs, and ride all the way to about 80 MPH I figure in 1st. Second definitely can't be tugged up at any length below 75. I tried, and tried and tried and basically gota little wheel hop at 40 or 45 mph, but otherwise it just refuses to lug its big ass in the air in second at that speed.

i must have a bum bike. i cant wheelie it in 2nd. best i can do is a few inches with power, even at 7000+rpm. tried clutchin, but that didnt do anything. it's quite possible my clutch is fried. it's got almost 30,000kms on it after all.

After a day of racing on the track I found myself leaving the track today with a group (spectators) guys. The group had a ZX9, GSXR1000, TLR1000, Busa, 929 Honda, a 996 Ducati, a ZX7R and my self on the 12. We got onto the long on ramp and the boys started bumping the bikes up into various wheelies. I popped the 12 up and wheelied through the group onto the freeway and set her down about a half mile later in 5th gear. At this rate I should get wheelies figured out pretty soon!!

freek, isn't there pics of you on zx-12r.org standing on your 12? BTW, I've finally broken the bike in more, changed out the pegs so my lanky ass can get some more room and basically, I stand up, rev it to 5k, jump down on the bike a couple of times while gassing it and it jumps up. Clutching would let me go much slower, but Im not ready for that.

sounds like a lot of work. 2nd gear, 5500 to 6500 rpm, blip the clutch, snap the throttle and your up in nice controlable way. thirs and fourth you need the rpms up around 8,000.

my clutch seems to slip too much to do that. prolyl needs replacing.
yeah, thats me standin on the seat, but i never got fully upright. what with the curvature of the seat, it's almost impossible to stand on it even on a race stand. & the tank aint much better. need a steering damper too before i really wanna try that much more. plus it's a bitch findin a good place to practice stunting. gotta b fairly remote so as not to disturb people & get tickets, but still within a few minutes of a hostpital just in case. plus gotta be a nice long straight w good pavement & little or no traffic. not an easy thing to find.
