I was reading through this and couldnt help but notice this "Except during periods of traffic congestion,no person shall operate a motorcycle between lanes of traffic or between adjacent lines or rows of vehicles"
This probably means that if theres a bunch of people stalling traffic you can actually drive between the cars??? wow,,, if its true people will only get more upset at bikers good luck washington residents

"Read first time 01/18/2005. Referred to Committee on Transportation"
This is only the first hurdle.
I have contacted my State Representatives and have received back one email stating that there was much opposition to this bill and very little in favor of it at the public hearing.

yeah legal in California since the mid 80's at least (grew up in Sacramento), but most (all?) other states it's still illegal. total bs, state lawmakers, city and county councils, and every little old lady lobbying group has tried to find, make, or falsify studies to denounce lane-splitting for as long as I can recall. EVERY SINGLE RELIABLE STUDY has shown that lane-splitting saves lives. Period. Cage drivers there don't like it, but they can't stop it, yet. The rules in Cali used to be: no splitting if traffic is going more than 45MPH, no going more than (?)30 mph faster than traffic, no riding on shoulders of road. Only problem for the other states is that drivers in california are absolutely friggin insane, they drive like they're late for work or there house is on fire, ALL OF THEM. It's perfectly normal to experience 75mph, LITERALLY bumber to bumber, 6 or 7 lane wide traffic there. Every car WILL jump into the percieved 'open space' where you are when traffic is stop and go. In states where drivers use less cocaine (like my state, washington) they are more likely to be on marijuana and drive accordingly. Kinda like dodging turtles crossing the road. Therefore it wouldnt pan out with any study because not enough guys get whacked on the freeways.
