Exhaust wrapping
Any help or suggestions on wrapping my stainless/carbon Akro? I would like to reduce the heat and was wondering if it was worth the time and trouble.
Thanks.....Dan

I have the wrap from Summit but haven't done it yet.
from what I've heard from other riders on this board and others, and from my own opinion, "yes" it's going to help.
The HP gain may not be too noticeable by the seat of the pants, but at least the heat won't rise up to the engine and you during traffic!

It does work. But it generally only gives a few hp. It may shorten the life expectancy of the pipe tubes, but its not a big deal for the average person. So the pipe doesnt last 10 years, who cares. It may also discolor the Can from hotter Can temps. It also makes the o2 sensor get up to temp faster. (if you have an o2)
If you run a pipe with big primary tubes then the gains are better than a pipe with smaller tubes. Mainly beacuse the velocity drops quicker on big tube headers as the mix cools and requires less volume to maintaim the velocity it had when the mix was hot. A higher velocity column of air has more kennetic energy to scavenge the cylinders. Of course cam timing becomes a bigger factor as well.
Its $50 for a few hp. I'd say thats a good hp to $ ratio.
