Oh to have an 02', too...
...went to Chaparral today...saw, sat on, ogled, drooled on, wiped drool off the red and the blue 02' 12R...wished they painted the wheels and swingarm black...swingarm is different, among other things...I like the mirrors...seems I can see behind me better and they DO look better than the 00/01...the more I looked, the more I liked...sat on a blue and a silver Busa, too...it'd be a great medium distance two-up rocket bike...the finish is better than Kawasaki...I wish I could have one, too...and the California Lottery is going pass 80 million tonight...I bough my tickets...now I wait

Fuck the 2002
I'd much rather have an 00 or 01.

2002 Kawasaki ZX12R
Doug from Muzzy explained a bit about the changes for this year!!! Since Kawasaki has no need to focus on Top Speed with the 186 restrictions for 2002, they started working on the overall looks. They modified the mirrors (smaller with not as much of a point). They modified the ram air for looks only - not for top end. The ram air scoop on the 2000-2001 was built for maximum air intake and ultimate top end!!!
Now one thing that I really liked about the 2002 was the carbon fiber plate for the speedo assembly and the air intake covers that make the dash look complete/finished.... I wish we had that for the '00'-'01'.
Oh! and a real pisser for the 2002 is that they fixed the clutch oil problem!!!! I guess they realized that there is a problem!!!
Now why don't they recall our shitty clutch????

Maybe
They say, that
there are over 140 changes made to 02.
Maybe there are some changes that could
be added to our 00-01 quite easily.
Hmm, Could that over part of fairing with new, bigger
air in take etc.. be changed?
perhaps the clutch too...
It would be nice to know those 140 changes as a list.
I heard that the swingarm is different and lighter.
The front fender seems also nicer.

I hope someone figures out...
... if the '02's oval throttle pulley can be "retro-fitted" onto the '00/'01 models.

RED...I eyeballed the 02' pulley...worked the throttle in the showroom...looked like it'd fit...dunno if it 'felt smoother' or was it the placebo effect?
