ZX12R engine kit?

I am wondering why a 12R engine kit will bring more $$ than the buy back price on a totalled 12R.

Must be the insurance companies have no idea what the value of the engine is on the open market.

Another problem this creates for the owner of a crashed 12R is being the "insurance value is artificially low" is that their bike gets totalled , when in reality all it may have needed was some plastic and a canister. But the combination of hi list prices on the parts and the artificially low price of salvage value = total.

I realise they want to make a profit, but why dont they learn what the salvage value really is?

I'll glady buy a plastic smashed pipe dented 12R for $800.
