Engine Build, Best way to go? Help!!
asking the pros because I have no clue,
in your opinion what would be the best set for the 12R
1270 - 1317 - 1375 stroker this will be a custom bike for show and go English town and a lot of street riding,
looking for the best way to go with longevity and a lot of power was thinking about the 1375 but a few people told me that they have a tendency to throw rod bearing wiping the motor out! so I will ask all the pro's hear there opinion I hope this isn't a prob for you guys.....

I have 2 1270's and love the power, but also have a crank sitting here for a 1375 buildup. I heard mixed reviews of the 1375 myself in the past, but have been assured by guys who are "in the know" that they are fine. If you have the cash, you might spring for the billet crank versus getting one stroked...but it is a pile more money.

You need to know exactly what you want before you go to the guys above...
What year is your 12 and how many miles depends on what mods to your motor...
Why do you need motor work if its going to be a Bling Bling 12???
You can put a sidewinder on it with a billet oil pan a Trac Dynamics 6 inch extended swingarm with a 260 tire conversion!!!

well it's not just for bling blinging, I have the opportunity to due a race bike this year for my studio and write it off,
so my accountant said that I should go a little crazy this year but don't brake the bank! Some of my friends go to raceway park every week so I figure if the bike looks blinging but has a nasty racing engine 1375 or a billet big block with noz! would like to get the bike in the 8.90 area hahaha!
Bike is a 02 with 03 forks micron serpent header pc3r
looking to do web cams total engine build up! this is why I'm asking the pro's is this forum there advise so I don't make any mistakes as so many people do,they just don't listen to people that done that been there scenario

It's more about finding and getting the engine to the right builder, than there is anything to worry about with the various kits. IMHO.
Get the kit that you can afford, ask yourself if you want to spend/(waste?) money on the NOS or head porting.
With something cheaper like a 1270 kit and NOS, or 1361/1375 stroker and NOS, you'd have a super killer setup.
Just make sure you get an experienced 12R builder and a nationally known shop! 
Don't forget, you only really save the equivalent of the taxable portion of your expense. ie. you spend $5000, 28% bracket = 5000x.28 = $1400 'saved', but you still had to spend 3600 of your own cash.
Isn't that right fella's?? It's late, I could be wrong....... :-/

I didnt think Muzzys built any motors except for certain individuals or exceptional cases?

very true but since we have a photo studio we use the bike as a prop for some killer babes that are strippers, also we will be using it for advertising with the studio name on the side so I think we can write almost all of it off.. well i hope!

where is your studio? I would like to have some good photo's taken of my bike this year?
Oh and go with the 1375 kit!
and just make sure the person building the motor know's about 12's..... it doesent have to be the king's just make sure they know the court!

Since I will be going with the stroker kit from muzzy do you think I should get rods too like falicon? I really only would like to tear the bike down one time and do all the internals
at once under cut the gears head work cams valves and so - on thanks guys....

Add MVR (Mike Velasco racing) to the list. He got 212 rwhp on my 1361. I've had it dynoed 3 times, and the lowest it made was 209 rwhp. I've put almost two years and thousands of miles on the stroker, and have no complaints except that it won't start when it's hot..

Na,,, do not need the rod's Stock rods will work very well!
I would do the tranny, maybe throw in a couple of Billet gears! since you have the extra $$, I would not do any head work except maybe SS valves and a must would be the HD valve springs and Ti retainers! for sure! We are coming out to MIR, for the DragbikeZone.Com Race!!! so I will be in the neighborhood the 4th or 5th of June, how much does it run to do a shoot where I get the photo's, or Disc?

it's tonight!! Oh &*#(#$ I wish I could go tonight,I have to due week end scheduling for my work crew, friggin load factors are unreal! and to top it off some of my tech decided to take vac at the last moment! Or is it next week? Im so lost this week!

is there a way to get by the heat problem? run a fan switch maybe? how much does the bike overheat?

That's affirmative. Don's the one who talked me into doing the stroker over the 1270. There's quite a story behind that project. I was just getting to know ZH, looking forward to knowing him better, and he then was gone...He was a great guy, true and honest, and full of fun and knowledge.... I still miss him....

I have a fan switch. My 1361 has never over-heated, but it's refused to start several times after running it real hard, had to let her cool off first. Really starting to think seriously about a 2nd battery and a 24v starter system. I know it's been done, and it works. I've just been thinking it could be done better using a relay triggered by the starter that would allow you to have a normal 12v system except when starting....

Well, I'm the furthest from any pro on the board, my vote would also be for JohnnyCheese........But at this time he is on Sabbatical. If you realy wanted
something different that would get ya around real nice I would say a supercharged
1270. Build 12's are few and far between, turbo 12's are a rare bread, but a supercharged
12 would be the most uncommon for a show bike. Plus a linear power band with out boost lag would realy make you happy on any twisties you might encounter. No bottles to fill so when you run out of the juice in a few seconds you will not have to make excuses for going back home to pick up another bottle. Not to mention at a streetable 6-8# of boost you would have more HP than most built motors. It would probably run you close to the same as a built motor too. I would stick with all stock stuff except the pistons and trans. Robinson does nice work and has that low first to get ya between stop lights. A pingel up/down electric shifter would be nice and clean too! Good luck and keep us up to date on your choices.
