OT: OBDII Diagnostic Tool

I think I'd like to buy a relatively cheap OBDII diagnostic tool. A friend and I will probably go in on one together.

I need it to set my car's TPS Sensor after installation (throttle blade %) and he needs it to retrieve history codes for an intermittent mis-fire/running rough problem.

I was pointed to this device: http://www.obddiagnostics.com/

I was going to go look for a MAC Tools one and S&K just because they seem to have good stuff.

Does anyone have any other idea's on an OBDII diag tool?
I was hoping to stay under $250-ish.

Thanks!

Look at thehttp://www.autoenginuity.com.This one works with a Palm Pilot or a Laptop.
I purchased one for our dealership to diagnose NON Ford,Lincoln,Mercury or Toyota vehicles.I have used it with Mazda,Chevy,Toyota,Ford and Dodge. It works well. Also includes an onboard dyno simulator. You can save reports. It will show you mode 6 data. You can record and then review in a spreadsheet.Nice tool and not too much $$$. The basic system is $229.00.The CAN setup is $59.95.Get it if purchase this tool. You most likely don't need the enhanced version of the software.Let me know if I can answer any questions.

Hey Jim!

It's a Lexus (toyota) I've read that the cpu is pretty much un-crackable from a performance perspective, but, there is one company offering a piggyback unit that you solder into place!

Would be awesome if I could get something like LS1-Edit!!

Boman, I'll check out that website. Initial look at it is promising.

Baggy, I wasn't aware that autozone would cater something like this to the every-guy since they can't sell too many of them, but I will go and check it out for sure!

We use the Autoenginuity in a proffessional enviroment.I have used Snap On and Mac scanners, neither in my opinion are as good as this setup. The Vetronix Scan Tool for Toyota cost me around $3500.00 several years ago. ;and for everything except reprogramming ecu's the Autoenginuity can handle it at a huge savings over the cost of these other units.I prefer using it over the Ford WDS System when I can. Download the software from their website and have a look at it. The software is available to download free. You just have to purchase the connecter to be able to use it.You will be able to use it for most all cars on the road with the CAN adapter. Also check EBAY they list them on there also. Good Luck.
NOTE: I am in no way affiliated with this product.Since this looks like an ad for them.........
P.S. If you need any Toyota/Lexus specs. diagnostic info let me know and I will send it to you.

I use this one:

http://www.obddiagnostics.com/

It has a serial port connector and I hook it to my laptop with a serial/usb converter cable. I bought the complete unit for $96 but it is available for less as a kit. I does everything I need it to do on my Jeep GC.
