V-Rod Auction

I heard a local HD dealer auctioned a V-Rod and got $27,000. Can you fucking believe that!

big deal...no, really.....BIG DEAL!

...I think to each his own....maybe some of them would never own or ride a 12R anymore than some of us wouldn't be seen on an HD...or pay for one...well, maybe for a Firebolt if you accept it and ride it for what it was designed to do, that is, be different and have some kind of fun...

$27,000.00 = 2 new 2002 ZX12s with tax, regi, ins.

Hey Bill...What is it with the Harley guys??? Maybe we will see him at the Hut??? There he is standing proud next to his $27,000.00 Harley!!!???

I dont understand how it's acceptable to be proud of paying so much for a Harley and bragging about it???

designed by some third shift janitor at PORSCHE

Actually, I don't think it is bad looking for a cruiser. I think it would look 300% better with some paint on it. The brochure actually calls the color "Anti-Paint". And it doesn't run bad, it just makes you wonder why there is no Super V-Max (not that a V-Max wouldn't kill it as is). One of the reasons I don't buy Hardleys is the same reason I don't go to prison, all that forced anal sex.

First one

$11,700 and that's NOT "out the door". About $360 in sales tax and $25 to tranfer my "vanity" plate of ELK 1 (my truck already had RED ELK). So that would be $12,085 OTD. On the "plus" side, I got about $1200 over what my '97 7R "blue booked" at. That brings it down to $10,885.

Geez, what's MSRP now or what were some '00 models going for after the dealers got the $1000 rebate? Wasn't it something like $8999? Hmmmmm.... about $1,886 LESS then what I paid for mine. Throw in the fact that I got a 60 month loan at 9.5% and my monthly payments are $185.20. That works out to $11,112. That's after my $5400 trade in. Grand total... $16,897, including sales tax, loan interest and license.

Hell, throw in my first year's insurance of $800 (I had one ticket at the time) and now it $17,697. This year's insurance was $480 ($18,177) and will be about $400 when I renew this April ($18,577). Hmmmm.... tires, oil, parts, aftermarket accessories, gas.... how much was that V-Rod?

Would I do it all over again, if given the chance? You DAMN SKIPPY I would!

It takes a special kinda guy to pay 27 grand to be slow and noisy. On the other hand, my wife thinks I'm crazy to spend over $3 on a can of mouth cancer (her name for Skoal). Whatever whips your wire.....
