It hurts to even think about it.......
It hurts to even think about it, but I may put my 12R up for sale. I've actually dodged this for a while now, but in all honesty I may have no choice this time around. This year has been one financial nightmare after another for me. I've stressed so much about all of it that I could just fuckin' puke. I have never owned a bike that was so capable of doing so many different things. Not just doing them, but doing them well. I still love the bike very much.
I'm still on the fence about it, and will not make a move to sell unless I know for certain that I can tolerate letting Lil' Red go.
But if I do decide to sell, I am putting the bike back as close to stock form as possible. That means I will have tons of goodies for sale. Scotts Damper, throttlemeister, PC3r,Yoshimura RS3 Duplex Race SS/Ti system,Hans CF Hugger, ram air covers & tank tray, set of forks, another set of wheels w/rotors. All of this and more will be sold.
It absolutely sucks to even post this.

Hate to hear it Rick. But if it happens then it's an excuse to do up another one later. That's why I never sold the ZRX when I bought the 12R, it was paid for and cheap to insure.

rick, one thing that has helped me ward off thoughts liek that is that a 4yo 12r aint gonna fetch a whole lot of money anyway. unless u'r REALLY hard up, it's just pointless to sell. where it eats up money really is things liek tires. if u jsut cut down the amount of riding u do, a set or tires will last u a season and u dont spend much on fuel also. hope u don't have to see her in the end.

All good points fellas. I have kicked it around in my head quite a bit and really want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. Unfortunately I've been in this position before, but it has been many moons ago.

Keep your chin up Rick; I'm in the same boat right now as I just got laid-off & the wifie got nailed in the family cage by an uninsured flake couple weeks back. When it rains it pours...
I'm gonna loose my azz if I sell it; but I ain't riding it much so it's hard to justify keeping it. Problem is; they are not really in demand- everyone's buying ZX10R's. I just keep having dreams of the drags/Bonneville; & when I go out in the garage I find myself staring at it for long periods of time...one day i'm gonna sell it; the next I'm NEVER going to sell it...
One thing; as mentioned there are plenty of them around. When your back on your feet you can always buy another one. I've seen used 00's around here going as cheap as $4K. I won't sell mine unless i get $6.5-$7K, as I got too much into it. I'll keep it for a coffee table if nothing else before I take a $15K kick in the nutz....
Whatever you decide; I hope you stay around the site even if you don't have the bike. All the best man...

Thanks guys.....
Shut the fuck up Steve.
EBD, It's a bitch eh??? I am still SO on the fence that I cannot possibly make a decision and stick with it. I had a long talk with the wife last night and she said NO!!! BUT, she is absolutely clueless when it comes to our finances and some of the obstacles we are going to encounter in the near future. I guess I'll know what to do when the time comes.
I also hope your situation gets better, and in a hurry. Things are really tough for a lot of people right now, and that sucks. But it could ALWAYS be worse. Hang in there and fight the good fight Dave. It's gonna work out bro, and don't worry, even if the bike goes I'm gonna still hang out here. The bike can be replaced, you knuckleheads cannot.
Again, thanks to all you guys for the positive words. IT DOES HELP!!!!
Oh and once again, fuck you Steve.

Baby's coming and I am thinking the same thing. Sell it. Then I think hell no! But man, I just don't know. Too much to think about so I put it off. I figure if I can just avoid the subject for another 10 or 20 years it should be fine. Man I was slow before, can't imagine how slow I am going to be with a family on the brain now.

Why not retire the bike.Pull the insurance and registration and save on the tires and gas.It may not be money in but at least it's not money out.
