Bye Bye Speedvision
It amazes me that they are turning Speedvision into the Speed Channel just for more Nascore Vomit.
If I wanted to see people who couldn't drive, I'd just sit in the Bingo parking lot at closing time and watch the blue hairs leave.

Funny I just watched the 24 hours of Daytona.And I remember them saying your home for Formula 1 bla blah blah blah.Does Fox own Speedvision?They must because they wont let ESPN in the track.I cant see them showing 24 hours of Nascar.

for the life of me, i cant figure out why they would undergo the massive expense of changing their name? seems just plain stupid to me. plus the new name sounds worse than the old one. it just doesnt flow.

I agree about how sad it is that speedvision is changing but it also amazes me to hear ignorant people like you who think NASCAR drivers don't know how to drive. Yeah, what they do is easy, all they do is go round and round. You obviously have no concept of how difficult what they do is. How sad and uninformed you are, I guess I should bow to your driving superiority.

I went to one nascar race in my life
It was the daytona firecracker 400 and I went to SLEEP it is the most BORING racing to watch to me. I think it's stupid for them to change the name too.I hope they don't fuck over the other racing disciplines to show more Nascar, but I'd bet they do.Fuck'em thats what channel changers are for.

I too wonder what the deal is with this whole nascar thing, but look at the grandstands... the fucking place's are packed!!!!! I don't get it but wouldn't it wouldn't it be funny if all these roundy round people started decking out their monte carlo's and such like the japanese car guys do, now that would be funny. I guess we'll have to wait and see what speedchannels perogative is.

NASCAR replicas
J...we have a few guys in NYC, that drive around with the stickers, #'s on the doors and a couple guys with the actual paint jobs of the race cars!!! They look cool and I often see them on the side of the road with the POLICE behind them...  We also have a General Lee Charger and a Starsky & Hutch Grand Torino...

Check this out, you dead Dale wannabe, I am not a professional race car driver. However, I do breath air and walk erect, which is about all the qualification you need to know that in the race car driver hierarchy, Nascar pilots are ass crust.
It is a fad just like disco, tatoos, line dancing, Ellen, and Harleys.

We to have a Starsky & Huch car in Vancouver! No General Lee replicar (cool word I just made it up) but I've never seen someone deck their car that way, I thought about doing up a dodge R/T up like one of the stockcar style trucks but you couldn't ask for a bigger heat score than a midsized car/truck done up like Jeff Gordons rainbow car "I think that's his car" I have a fixed up Honda Civic Si, but I'll save that for another web group. This is a bike site after all.

I went to the Michigan 400 last year(free tickets, hospitality & pit pass) and from what I could see it was the same people. I bet they think wrestling is real too

Nascar is not about raceing. Nascar is about money. The fans pay money and they want to see the cars at all times.So they make the track into a large roundy kind of thing! Maby the cars should be in slots so the drivers don't have to steer.

C'mon guys...racin's racin!...no matter what kind or racin' it is...from soap-box derby to street luge...from motorized barstools to lawn-mowers...from karts to formula-1...from bassboats to off-shore juggernauts...from pocket bikes to GP bikes...its all about entertainment...and its all about $$$$$ for the networks...what would you do if YOU owned the $$$$$ generating network?...as far as entertainment, I thought most of you speedfreaks would appreciate ANYTHING that has to do with RIDING, DRIVING, FLYING, POWER, AND SPEED...hey, you'd probably do it if given the chance, too, right?...might be 'fun'...or have we become so damn sophisticated that anything less than turning left and right is pure bullshit?...SPEEEEEEEEED and lots of it!!!...I'm not a racer either, but watching this type of racing has made me appreciate any professional driver's talent as they negotiate and pass at elevated speeds for any length of time...have any of you guys actually driven one of these NASTYCARS at hi-speed?...have you seen how the hoods deform from the pressures as they draft each other?...how the car wants to do its own thing at 200+mph...how freekin' nuts is that?...I bet most of us would just wilt under the pressure until we did it enough times and got used to it...talented all, these pros...whether its a GP bike rider or a NASCAR driver turnin' and burnin' it takes some kind of special talent, no?...this being said, I just HOPE the new format doesn't forget the rest of us bike freaks who like things bikes....oh yeah...my two cents and my humblest of opinions...like your's...

There is a city north of here named Hamilton! (the exclamation point is a legal part of it's name), kind of a w/t part of town, if you know what I mean. When they came out, they had more S&H Torinos than I have ever seen in one place in my life. Single track burnouts everywhere! There must of been 50 of those white turbo Trans Am pace cars up there as well.
22348bCVC (say that ten times fast), that is my point exactly. It was the fact that Speedvision had all kinds of stuff (cars, bikes, boats, planes etc.) that made it great. Freedom of choice BABY!!!
I respect Nascar as a motor sport and will watch it as such, just don't try and make me watch only it, and don't tell me that the drivers are better than ones in the pro ranks in NHRA.
I will say this, and you heard it here first. World Rally Championship (WRC) is THE next big thing. And those jackoff's can DRIVE!

If any of you guys truly think those Nascar guys aren't talented you're fucking ignorant.
I can understand somebody not liking the sport because some of the races are on the boring side, but you have to give those guys credit where credit is due. Those guys are talented, don't be an ass and cut them short just because you don't like the sport.
Let the record show that I too, hope that Speedvision/The Speed Channel don't go to a 100% Nascar format. Even though I can't get the channel, (fucking cable one pricks) some of my friends have it.

I kinda agree with 22348bCVC (damn, I thought my handle was hard to deal with!! You will be forever known by me as CVC!!), racing is racing and it's ALL good. Different strokes for different folks as the old saying goes. I think some are agitated by the success of NASCAR because it has such a "faddish" huge following and most of the particpants have that southern draw!?!? Hey, racing is racing, we all have that need for speed, that makes us all the same essentially. Hell, given the opportunity I'll jump in a Slicktrack go-kart and go round and round!! I just hope like the rest of you guys that equal air time is given to the other racing venues. Just my .02 worth!!

I may hold a bit more hostility towards the "bandwagon" critics cause I've been a NASCAR fan loooooooong before the "bandwagon" fans. In retrospect prolly was a bit harsh in my reply to ROCKET and you all have known me for a long time as someone who is rarely critical of anyone or anything, hence my signature line. I just take exception to people to can't give respect where it is deserved.

I understand where you're coming from. I was a Nascar fan way before it was a "Mainstream" sport. Back when a MF might have a handful of sponsors to thank if he won a race. I don't like the direction of the sport because it has been "Sanitized" too much. I liked it when drivers could be more aggressive on the track, and speak their mind after a race without fear of being shunned by corporate america.
Even with that said I'm still a fan, and still love to watch the races. Every now and then you do get to see some of the tactics of days gone by used, and I love it. There are also some of the new generation drivers who are brash and talk shit like some of the older guys used to. I like that as well. I've been watching the sport for a long time, and I'll probably keep watching it for who knows how long. My driver is gone (Dale Sr.), but I still enjoy watching Nascar.

Agreed and I may need to clarify that I DO NOT LIKE THE INSTITUION OF NASCAR, ie" Bill France Mike Helton etc. They are all a buch of fuckers, what I do like is the racing and the drivers. I not only respect them for their driving but for what they represent. No wife beating, drug abusing, kill people and get away with it go on strike cause they're not making enough money fucking whining bitching fucking cocksucking bastard cryfuckingbabies like basketball, baseball, football players. race car drivers are honorable men and for that I respect them too.

Jumpin J... I too had a Civic Si,Black...All stock...I traded it in for the new Rav4...I got rid of it because everywhere I went I was at 85mph...Also, it didnt tow the ZX12 good, it didnt want to stop!!!
