DUMMY DYNOTESTS!!!
Hmm can you tell me why there is not a dyno for bikes
that could "speed the intake air" like in the real life situation
Faster you drive more air flows trouhg.
That should not be impossble to make... in testbench
It's the only way to measure the horsepowers truly in the dyno!
Sorry my stupid& dammy Question
Maybe Doug might have an opinion ....

Shure it can be done.
All you have to do is have a dj250 and rent the wind tunnel at Ames or MIT etc.
I'm shure thier rates are reasonable. Cant be more than $10,000 an hour.

seriously
I think it won´t need a large wind tunnel ...just straigt to the snorkel..
but it must have to work with revs and it could have different maps
for different bikes ..maps for wind/ram Aair done first in realworld.
What I mean is that the wind machine could push air/ wind
with different speed depending on how you drive and rev you machine in testconditions... Do you get me???

Break Out the Duct Tape boys
Hook your leaf blower up to that MF, that ought to force some air down the 12's throat!!!!!!!!
A gas powered one, not one of those pussy electric jobs!

Well if you knew the real world air pressure curve from a data logger and used a computer to control duct pressure from a large plenum to the inlet of the zx12 inlet with an electro mechanical valve. Then I suppose you could measure ram air hp on a dyno simulating hp at speed.
Kcadby, is working on some testing that may answer ALOT of questions we all have. Hopefully in a month or so we will have some raw numbers to mull over.

RIGHT!
Y2 you''re right
that´s the way how it should work!
Those who know about airpressure
could make a harware easily * airturbo*
the computer part/software could be made by some experts
So what are we missing.... a new product for dynos )

Personally I don't see how you can simulate ram air, a couple of things come to mind.
Wind resistance and turbulance on the ram air itself you would have to have an air supply to simulate outside air moving across the bike.
In the same instance how rapidly could you apply this force with regards to rear wheel acceleration.
Just a couple thoughts it can be done likely but I doubt with much accuracy, even in a wind tunnel I'm sure these factors are hard to calculate without using the wag theory.
(wild ass guess)
Just my .02 sounds like a good idea though.

King, yea I'd have to agree that it would be very involved and expensive using a wind tunnel or not.
I have simulated ramair on the dyno on more than one occasion. It does show a hp boost of 1 or 2 hp but it has no real world corrilation. Its useless info.
