Sometime around 10pm... if I make it...
... it will be my "birthday".
Not the one that was some 45 years ago. It's the only "birthday" that really counts. I'll have eight years. Like I said on my sixth AA birthday, I still kinda wish my brother had the chance to at least enjoyed one. Fate is weird about such. Oh well, I'm just happy to still be among the living...

My daughter, Ashley, has now made it a tradition that she, not my sponsor, gives me my AA anniversary coin. Even though she has been down here at my office working late, she still did keep her tradition. Actually, my six year old grand daughter and my son-in-law "helped" a little bit. Since Ashley couldn't break away, Lance (her husband) went to the AA Central Office and got the coin and my grand daughter was the one to actually "present it" to me. I had to kinda chuckle since the little girl didn't have a clue on why she was wishing me a "Happy Birthday" since it's "normally" around Christmas.
Still, it was cool getting it from grand daughter, because if it wasn't for her mother (Ashley), I would not be alive today.

8 Strong years. An inspiration to everyone. I lost my brother to heroin so I root for everyone who does battle with substance abuse. With your grandaughter on your side I trust it gets easier every day. Keep it up and just stay sober today. The rest is all bonus.
