You knew it was coming.....PC3r Question??????
Just one simple question.
Why does my bike have to be running before I can do any mapping changes??? It says in the Power Commander "Manual" that the key needs to be on, and the kill switch needs to be in the run position. My computer never sees the power commander if I try it that way. But if I crank the bike I can do everything without any problems.
I think I've read others commenting about this before. What's the deal?????????

Mine did the same thing, I call Dynojet an received a RA number to ship it back for replacement. I talked to Travis. There has been a thread that discussed cranking the motor, then using the kill switch(not the key),kill the motor and then you should still be able to access the PC3. They came out with this after I sent mine back. The first guy I talk with at Dynojet wanted me to hold the throttle wide open(with the engine running) to set the wide open throttle position. Give the kill switch trick a try I believe that it works.

Ok
I'll try it this afternoon and see if it works.
If it does work, do you think I should still send it back to dynojet??????

Ahhh C I have a "Performance Center" LOL
quote: Rick are you using a laptop? You ARE bringing Karen and Blake and coming up here to Detroit to help me with my PC this spring right?
Nah C. I put a computer out in my garage last week just for this very purpose. It was an old one of mine that was collecting dust. A pentium 133. But hey all it has on it is Windows 95, IE, and the Power Commander software on it, so it runs pretty good. Hey I've even got my dial up account set up on it to access the internet. But I've got cable internet in the house so I doubt I'll use it much, but it's a backup I guess. I tried it out the other night and connected at a whopping 28.8k!!!!!!!!!
As far as the PC3r goes you know I'll help you anyway I can. And yes, if you don't mind buying plane tickets for Karen and Blake as well, I'll bring them too.
I am no expert on the PC3r by no means, but other than the little glitch I've got, it seems fairly simple to work with. I am hoping that the deal with the kill switch works. If it does I may just deal with it, because once it get it tuned to my liking I'll seldom screw with the thing. Or atleast that's what I'm thinking.

Sending it Back.......
I called Dynojet and at first they were acting like asses (shocker eh ), but when I told the guy to try and work with me and not against me (in a nice way) he actually straightened out. I'm not crazy about having a 1 day old power commander and already having to ship it back, but I want my stuff to be right. All I can say is the fuckers better fix it. If it was riding season right now I'd be pissed, but I've got tons of other stuff I want to do to the bike and this ain't gonna really slow me down. It only takes a few minutes to take the thing off the bike. Atleast when you have no plastic or seat on the thing. The 12 could never be a naked bike.

On it's way back....
I went home and pulled the thing off the bike. It is now on the way back to Dynojet in North Las Vegas. Hopefully it'll be back by the end of next week and be in proper working order. I'm a little apprehensive though, considering dynojet's customer service reputation. We'll see how they handle this. It cost me $16 to express mail it to the bastards.

Then maybe you can take care of me then, and explain why the guy I talked too tried to give me some static at the beginning of our conversation. On second thoughts, don't worry about it, we'll see how it all goes. My PC3r should arrive in NLV Friday, the guy told me it was a simple fix. Probably a one day turn around was what he said. Let's just see how it all pans out, and how long it takes to get my unit back. All I'm hoping for is, to get it back in as short of a time span as possible, and that it works the way it should have the day it left the factory. I'm not asking too much, nor am I going to let the $16 I had to pay to express mail it back to DJ bother me, as long as it all ends well.

Where did you get your PC3R??
Ninjaman, where did you get your PC3R?? It must have been some old stock, because I was under the impression that the fix was made back during the summer. I wonder if Dynojet shipped units out even though they knew they had a "Bug"

It's in NLV
My PC3r made it to NLV yesterday, a day earlier than I expected. I guess it more or less was shipped overnight. The delivery has been confirmed, and I'm going to call the tech today and see what is going on.
I'm anxious to see how all this works out.

For what it's worth DJ did a good job in taking care of my problem and turning around the box fast. I'm not happy about the original problem but I was thrilled at their response.
My lesson that was learned: WATCH THE CABLE ROUTING !!

I'll have to dig up the photos, they were actually sent to me by DJ after they got my box in for repair. They mounted it on a test bike there and guessed that the cable was pinched by the edge on the tank where it came close to the frame. The pinch went through the cable and basically grounded out one of the wires and that told the PCIII to dump 100% fuel into the #4 cylinder. Needless to say that's a bad thing. When I got it back I went to a lot of trouble to make sure the whole thing is out of harms way. A plastic cable cover would be a little more insurance too. Learn from my lesson !
