How bizarre! It's sitting in my garage! Very very strange indeed!
It's a little worse for wear... rough around the edges... leaks like a sieve!

The sad realization that the battery is dead.

Fulltilt learns first hand the HELL of the 12R's "battery tray"

Battery tray brings back bad memories for me... I thought I got rid of my 12 so I'd never have to go through this again...

Even worse than the dead battery... .the leaking carbon fiber tank... Fulltilt must have spent some time in Mexico cuz he's a pro with a garden hose and a gas can...

Bike strapped to my trailer...

The threads came out with the allen that holds the carbon tank cover to the carbon tank.. bummmer!

Finally.. the tank is exposed!

The leak....

PS.. Beans... receiving Carbon 12R's is just one way that members "thank" freek and me for the site... We're waiting for your "gift"..

Fish -
In answer to your query about US registration, you can 'gift' the bike to avoid excise taxes. NAFTA takes care of duties, so the cost should be minimal...

I'm eternally grateful, BTW, to Fishy and Freeky for getting me out and about on my (not so) trusty steed. It is a wonderful thing to connect with folks with similar interests so quickly when moving to a new city, not to mention country.
Thanks guys.

I went with a fiberglass shell and CF overlay on my tank (GSXR1000) Heard too many horror stories the CF tanks will eventually leak . The weight difference is a little over 2lbs between fibergalss and CF. Unfourtantly, the person who made it (Quentin Robles) had some build quality issues with mine (gap at front area between tank and frame-hard to see in the pic how bad it is) and suddenly became unavailable when I complained the scumbag lives in the San Diego area.
BTW Nice looking 12!

Yeah Dave, would you believe it was the first time for me since the wrist dislocation/break? Kinda hurt, but needed to get out sometime and it has been 10 weeks.
Not sure why it chose to spring a leak. Undecided about whether I'll try to repair or replace. Could coat the inside of the tank or bake in some more resin in a strategic place.
Nice 1K, BTW
