RedElk, will you list your Group Ride Rules??
Sorry I didn't take notes on Friday, but could you re-list the Rules of the Group Rides?
I remember no passing in corners...

I'm kinda tied up for a while...
... but hopefully some others here will also share some of their views and experiences.

1. Group leader - nobody passes
2. single file and a good gap between EACH bike (several bike lengths)
3. Leave the "testostrone" at home, a group ride ISN'T a "qualifying event"
4. Before passing a rider, MAKE SURE they know your intentions
5. if being passed, pull towards the right this tells the "passer" that it's okay to pass and doesn't force them far into the lane of oncoming traffic.
6. try to restrict "hooliganisms" (i.e. wheelies and burn outs), sometimes, everybody will get a ticket or hassled
7. Group leader needs to ALWAYS keep the whole group in mind when passing a cager(s)
8. make sure EVERYBODY know where the stops are
9. make sure EVERYONE leaves the stop together
10. EVERYONE has maps with the stops marked on them
11. carry "stuff" (cell phones, first aid kit, tire patch kit for frEEk, etc.)
12. Have a "rescue vehicle" with a trailer

Of course, ....
that's just a few of the "rules" and they can vary widely, depending on a bunch of variables. Things like the size of the group, the distance the will be going, if there will be bike-to-bike communications and so on.
If the trip is "one-way" (with a over night stop), instead of a one day "round trip", the "rescue vehicle" becomes a "chase vehicle". Finding someone willing to drive a car or truck with a trailer, only seeing the "group" at the start and and the end of the ride, would be kinda tough. It would be a sweet addition, but pretty unlikely.
The bottom line is that there is really only one rule. COMMON SENSE! Everyone needs to use their heads, both individually and collectively. Again, it's a GROUP RIDE, not a qualifying round for the Isle of Man. If someone wants to ride like that, they need to either find another group to ride with, go it on their own or pick a different weekend.
Pack like you would for a road trip in a cage, just with fewer "wants" and more "needs". You'll get over not having everything you wanted... you won't on everything you needed.
