Preppin' for Laguna

I need some input on setting up my bike for self-contained road trips...I already have a tank bag and I want to use soft saddle bags and perhaps a trunk...I want to keep as much of the gear off the bodywork...I remember reading something about the Ventura Rack(?) or some kind of rack that hinges up and out of the way for access to the tail section...what do you use for bags?...I've already installed the cruise-control and I'm thinking about ordering one of those gel-pads to attach to my seat (hey, not pretty to look at, but it could add additional legroom, keep my butt comfy, and I can't see it when I'm sitting on it, right?...besides, its just for the long hauls...easily removed to look cool again)...and how'bout a deer whistle?...crazy you say?...I saw a few wannabe venison opportunities last year...it would hurt, no?...yeah I'm prepping now cuz' I'll bee too busy Jun-Jul to do anything and I want to ensure I have all of my shit together for the trip two weeks prior to launch sequence....
____________
...just relax...my dog wants to use only one of your legs...

u prolly remember the saddle bags that fish, PK, and myself had last year. they could be expended to truly huge proportions, & were pretty cheap. i liked them. i think rather than buyin a trunk or the rack, i'd just get a nicely fitting duffle bag & strap it on top of the saddle bags, like fish & PK also did last year (they'r the masters of packing). worked VERY well. just used mactac on the tail to protect the bodywork. good idea. i didnt & got the shit scratched out of the tail as a result. they had a whole buncha other things they did, but i'd better let them relate that themselves.
