I'd sure like to know the weight savings. Put it on a scale vs. your old one. Also, did the promised extra gallon make it into the final production unit? We all know we could use it...

If the stars and moon are in alignment... Yes it holds the extra gallon. And, depending on pump and filter, you can get farther to the bottom of the tank.

I say yes to the extra gallon because if you fill to the brim while the bike is level, yes it takes more gas. And the sucker is strong to boot! The quality is 100% there. The bizness sense... might not be 100% there. But the product is.

I suggest you take half a gallon or so to wash out the inside, there is some dust that your injectors might not enjoy.

Now I have to justify a $1200 tank. I have to think about that one for a while.

Is it you or your friend Don?

...who got the tank ?
It shure looks nice.
hmm... Did you buy it straigth from the Safetech?
why did it took so long?
Nowadays they are hard to get on the phonelines...
Is the quality ok? How does the tank cover
fit if the tank is a gallon bigger?

wish you all the best

Looks nice swft!

I'll bet it saves a lot of weight and the extra gallon would be nice too.

So is this company actually in buisness and producing these?

Or is it a hit or miss thing?

Definately a hit or miss thing. And my friend is troubleshooting the tank, gotta find out where it's leaking from... For now, I'm glad I steered clear of it...

Leaks???

Hmm. that's a new topic! The leak!

I suppose it 's hard and difficult to mold a tank like XZ...
Was it so that the carbon tank for ZX-12 is made from
six(6) parts mold?

Swft tell us, has your friend found the leaking problem?
Is he going to send the tank back?

Do you know what is the weight of the normal tank ?
and how much does the carbon tank weight?
is it really a gallon bigger?

Do you know ANY ??? phonenumber to those
Safetech fellows? Like to ask few questions...
Just been thinking that if I buy a tank from them
how to handle it if leaks .... Sending it back from Finland
does not sound very tempting to me

Another issue is the material itself.
Does the fuel eat the carbon and how much?
So with in the' few years'
it's supposed to leak anyway????
hmmm....

The leak was coming from the return fuel fitting. Basically, the brass receiver was *NOT* metric thread. So, tapped it out for a metric fitting, and all is well.

swft-

Odd, the one I touched was threaded just fine. I'm surprised the change.

Well, considering these aren't exactly assembly line pieces, it doesn't astound me that there are variances in the fit and finish of each one. But now that I know what the issues are, and how to deal with them, I'm considering stepping up for one, if it can be made.
