I'm so proud, got kicked out of the Chevy dealership

Took my car into Champion Chevroiet Reno to have them fix a rumbling at idle, an intermittant door lock, a seatbelt recall and a speaker buzz. They had no idea about the idle rumbling and I had to get another dealer to help me with the # of the SB. Well I got the car back and they did the idle, intermittant lock, and seatbelt recall. They also did a steering column lock recall and said they couldn't make the speaker buzz. Okay I get the car back and there is a huge rattle coming from the steering column, so I take it back along with the service manual(that tells you how to fix the speaker buzz, a known problem). a CD that really buzzes the speaker and when I get there I demonstrate the buzz, show them the manual and make them write down the page #. Okay they call and say they found what they left loose and still can't make it buzz so they couldn't fix it. So I take a cab down there, and resign myself to get out of there and fix it myself. The lady at the counter asks if they got it done and I said no and just to give me my car so I can go(very politely). She says you should speak to a manager and get it straightend out, I decline and ask to just get my car so I can go. This goes on three times and I decline and tell her I am too mad to talk to anyone. She called him anyway, so here comes a 6'4" guy with an morning attitude and asks what the deal was. I explained and concluded with the repair is in the manual and asked why they didn't just put in a 2 cent piece of foam while they were in there. He replied that he didn't care what was in the book and that this was a problem that couldn't be fixed. I replied just give me my car so I can leave. Now the lady asks me if it is all straightened out and I reply "Not only no, but hell no!". The 6"4" Manager hears this and in a threatening manner comes over and asks what did you say, and I said "I told her hell no" He then in a much more threatening manner says "There is your car, now get out of here". So I got into my $50,000 Corvette and left.
I called the General Manager and told him the story and appologised for saying hell, and told him if another of his employees came at me in a threatening manner I would call the cops. He asked if the speaker buzz was like a small piece of foam or insulation and was surprised they just didn't fix it and said the manager was out of line.
Oh well, I need to think of a way to make the managers life a bit more miserable, any ideas??? Oh yeah the rattle is still there.

...TedG, I met you briefly up on FoxHill last year...I didn't have enough time to determine if you're a real genuine asshole or not, but I do know that you're physically a little on the heavy horsejockey side of the scale...but I bet if YOU were a 6'-7" asshole with 50 more pounds of angry shit than that asswipe of a manager that he wouldn't have approached you in that theatenening manner...damn I absolutely HATE some of the dealers' attitudes AFTER the SALE, don't you?...from what you're saying here, you were within your bounderies, you were upset, you wanted your car back, and you asked politely the first time...and you apologized for using the 'hell' word about the situation, not at someone in particular...that goon of an asshole manager owes YOU a VERBAL AND WRITTEN apology in my book...he's in the customer service business, he should be professional and act like it no matter how much of an asshole (short of you flinging shit around and threatening physical harm) you are...typical story of some of the greasy sides in the automotive and motorcycle industries...assholes....

Ted.... talking to him on the phone is great, but how about writing a nice letter...

I'm sure you know this, but put it on an odd sized piece of paper, in an odd sized envelope. Make sure it is NOT LONGER THAN ONE PAGE.

Send copies to some higher higher ups. See what happens.

Ted...Nobody Cares!!!!

Nobody at the dealership cares!!! You will not make his life miserable by writting letters either!!! They will respond back with a letter of appology for the managers actions...I know for a fact that they will request that you bring the car in to be fixed and will give you free coupons to oil changes!!!

I tell you this, God help you if you go back!!! You will be labeled in the dealer computer and all of a sudden your car will have problems!!! I recommend you find another dealer, be nice and DONT mention to the new dealer your interaction with the other dealer!!! They all know each other, even though they hate each other!!!

CrotchRocket is right but there are still ways to make a man's life miserable. It all starts with knowing his name and address. Then the possibilities are endless. Have fun.

Ted...I'd be going in every once in a while just so that asshole service manager could see you smile at him. I wouldn't deal with him at all. Just be there to piss him off.

You might run into the service manager and you could jokingly ask him if he's gotten rid of that problem in service yet.

This "attitude" problem is one of the reasons that the Japanese cars have done so well over here. -ZXtra

Ted, chevy has a 1 800 number for complaints.
It bypasses the dealer and goes right to chevy.
Call the number and ask for a place to write to. Then tell them the story.
They may call you back and talk to you about it. And they WILL call the dealer.
Chevrolet will tell them to fix it. Then you can go in and politely tell that guy to fix my car right this time!
That will piss him off and he cant do a damn thing about it.

I say get in touch with chevy directly and tell them that if that is what you should expect after buying their top of the line car then the viper looks that much more appealing.

Ted,
Do nothing, well I would send the girl a $10 box of chocolates with a note. Thanks for triing to help me through my problem.
Then the next time you go to the dealer, it should be with your next new car. Then and only then would I gloat that they could of had the sale.
Calling, writing, yelling, they gat that daily. But sales rules the world.

Ted, your car is TOO NICE to expose it to counter attacks. You need to do the chocolate thing and then ask the lady for the best mechanic/body man. Then talk to the man privately and give him some chocolates for his woman(i hope)........that is how you get your car fixed correctly no matter what the problem!!! Be solution oriented and you will have it fixed before the letter ever reaches management.

It is a sad FACT that the majority of "Sales" and (even
bigger joke) "Service" people act this way.....

They are a bunch of PUNK-ASS bitches!!!!!

I know I am stating the obvious, but this is a good vent!!

A complete bunch of fucking geeks, who REALLY believe that they are THE shit!! I really know of nobody
who has NOT had a similar experience, whether it be
car OR bike dealer.

They will ONLY wake up to this when the ALMIGHTY $$$$$$
dollars$$$$$ go somewhere else!!!

Some of bike dealer/service shops are especially good at the "IGNORE THE GUY AT THE COUNTER" game!!!
It is almost comical, I am tempted to time them,
until one of them says..."Oh...Have you been helped????"

I agree, but I have to make the Kwak shop here an exception, they treat me really well, the owner goes out of his way to make sure I get a discount and good service. His kid who is a damn good parts man always is extra helpful and looks for deals on stuff I might be interested in. The give me good deals on extended warranties etc. The service department may be clueless but they let me do my own stuff. Kawasaki of Reno is okay in my books.

Ted here is my opinion. Remember back at labusas when I first got there the farings were cracked on my bike at delivery. But I didn't find out until my mechanic looked at it. I took the bike back and sent different departments at Kawi different letters. The CEO in Calif and Consumer relations were 2 of them. As well as the owner of the dealership I was using. Well about a week later the owner called me Appologised, did my 600 mile service for free, and Kawi sent me a letter of follow up. After the 600 mile service my bike never returned! I have all my work done by a different Kawi dealer. Write a letter, make a bunch of copies and send them to everyone at GM. That is a flagship car you will get results! Use phrases like "I'm sorry I bought this car I'll never buy another GM again" and "The service lady was intrested in helping me but the manager intimidated both of us, then I was thrown out after spending 50k with him I was treated like a piece of trash" Ham it up and you will see results!! I did and it worked!
