I was just trying to joke around, but actually the guys I see do it stand up and then just power wheelie it up, keeping their foot on the rear brake.

Get the bike in 2nd gear going about 50 mph, stand up and bounce the bike and crack the gas. That is how I do it, no clutch.

Talking wheelies do you guys use the clutch or not (sit down). A few guys were argueing that yesterday and couldn't agree on that or gear.. WHats your opinion?

2nd on the freeway w/get ya good high-speed wheelies. I tried that once, & some nutcase in a tool-box rear truck decided he would "stop" me from doing that. He pulled in front of me & hit the brakes...bout scared the shit out of me....slammed the front end down HARD!
Then when I pulled alongside to give him some shit, him & his passenger were laughing their asses off & flipping me the bird... Last time I did that, now it's backroads way out in the boonies for that kinds of squidly stuff...
Oh if only CA had a CCW permits....grrrr....

I'm still working on finding that balnce point and keeping it. Haven't tried to stand up yet but want to. I've used the clutch, the throttle wack and the power mention of getting the front wheel up. All depends at what speed you want to get the wheel up I guess. Oh, I've always started in 1st but sometimes shift into 2nd while wheelying.

Make sure when you try it to wear shorts and a cut off shirt with no sleeves and no helmet like the pros, it cant be that dangerous I see it on TV all the time

It's this kind of shit that is the reason that could tip me towards one of those retractable license plate deals.
I am not here criticizing or discussing anyone else's decision to run -- it just is for me at this time not my decision. So I would not use it for that. At least not under most circumstances.
But for assholes like the above, I wouldn't in the slightest mind retracting the plate and then doing a little "mirror removal" off their vehicle.
Sometimes if there is no immediate justice, there is no justice at all.
