OT: Odd tail light problem on 98 S-10, left side only!
My friend has a 98 S10 extended cab pickup.
Today while we were trying to get his existing trailer connector (4w Flat) working with my trailer, we "happened" to notice that his left parking light wasn't on any longer! Ooops!
Since we didnt' see it go out, we don't know what was done just prior to it going out!
Brake light works, turn signal works.
Bulb was swapped with right side and problem stayed in left tail-light.
Oh, the left light for the license plate illumination is also out.
Right side tail light and license illumination is ok.
Could not find any fuse for only the left side, and the "parking lamp" fuse was ok.
Anyone have any real good idea's or experience with this problem???

look for some corrosion on the terminals for the lamp socket
also, the 'trailer mod' box may have fuses or be bad
(hooks inline with truck wiring harness, mounted on left side on frame rail)
you might check to be sure that all those connections are good.
does the light work when trailer is disconnected?

Light is not working even with trailer disconnected.
I've looked at that spot on the left side of frame rail, and suspect something might be up in that area, but all looks tight and nicely connected. :-/
I wonder if a pin got pushed out of a socket there were they tap into the harness with the "T-connection".

I can't speak to S-10's, but full-size Chevy pickups and Suburbans (of the previous generation - mine is a '97) have a known problem with the taillight center bulb connector. This terminal is prone to overheating and corrosion (the other two are not - go figure). If this is your problem, it's possible to temporarily fix it by cleaning up the terminal pins connectors and making sure you're getting good contact. (But eventually you have to replace the connector portion of the taillight.)

Also check for a bad ground probably around the rear tail light assembly. As above....

Disconnect the aftermarket "T" adapter, plug the harness back into the factory connector and check the system. If it doesn't work then get a good 12volt test light and check for power with lights on. Let me know if you need wiring dia.
