Horsepower Increase
I have a question for ZX-12R owners out there. I am currently modifying my '02 ZX-12R with the Muzzy 1427cc stroker kit and nitrous oxide. I need to know what % hp increase my stock bottom end can accept before I have to purchase stronger con-rods, bearings, etc. Also, could you recommend a reliable nitrous oxide system for this application, and if any of you have had luck finding after market bodywork for your bikes, I would greatly appreciate knowing where you got it.

are you talking a dragbike application? or streetbike?
I believe that Rickey still runs the stock rods in his 500HP bike... I would be big $$ that they are balanced along with the crank though.
do a search on bodywork, there are a few people for a streetbike
on a drag bike I believe that Muzzy is the only one avaliable.

Rod problems will not be your issue. Ultimately the lack of CC's and small stroke will be your biggest obstacle. If I had to do it again, I would "strongly consider" a busa.

make sure yr CR is appropriate for using dope; Are you already committed to using an 87mm block??? Yr getting into very serious coin; if i had to do it again, i'd do a lo-moderate boost turbo.
to get big hp from big motor takes BIG bux!

Thank you for the responses. I should have specified that I am looking to build a streetable weekend drag bike. The turbo options on a ZX-12R are not good due to the airbox being a part of the frame itself that is why I am going with the nitrous oxide for now. I still have yet to find a system that I really like. I haven't purchased anything yet as I am still completing my research, but have recently been in contact with APE Raceparts out in California. These guys have a really good reputation and their prices, so far, are better than Muzzy. I'm surprised at the lack of availability of certain high performance parts for the 12R, such as brass valve guides, heavy duty engine covers, advancers, crank triggers, etc. You would think that a bike that is so often used in racing applications would have an extensive after market list to choose from. So far I have found that that is not the case (unlike the 'Busa). However, I have to much of an attachment to this bike to trade her in for anything else.

Do a search using ENTROPY or RA12R names and you should find all the ups and downs of what you are getting ready to do... Good luck.

Oh, if you are really enjoying your bike then I would suggest that you either 1) buy another zx12 to modify 2) buy a busa's add some pistons and headwork and cams. Pistons alone will get you more CC's!!!
(I am avoiding discussing the issues with your desire for the zx12)
