Lowering a 250R
Hey guys,
I need to get info on lowering a 2002 250R ninja. A girl I know who is 5 foot even just bought one as a learner bike but she feels uncomfortable with the seat height. 2 inches would give her a bunch of confidence! I know that many of you have had 250's for GF's, wives, etc? Anyone tried to lower one? who makes links? Who makes good links? Which ones should be avoided? Any advice would be appreciated.

Just drill the set and mount a 'device' to hold her in place. She'll be find and really enjoy the ride!

Never lowered hers. Try chopin up a used seat off ebay.

Howdy Scooter!!
How ya been man? That is a good idea. I guess lowering one is not so common? I figured that I would have had a bunch of ideas from lots of peoples experiences? Its just that she is very small (5 foot nothing and 100 lbs) and just needs some confidence and she will be fine. I am going to look on Ebay now.

I have one and my suggestion is to take the seat off and remove the staples and shave the foam with a carving knife. First make sure you know the seat depth so you do not remove all of it and then re-staple the seat. If this is not enough, then remove the circlips that hold the fork caps in and cut 1/2 inch off of the spacers over the springs. If that is not enough, remove the 1.4 inch thick suspension bracketsand have someone cut out another set that allow for adjustment!
