Mr Bad News calls again

I was lyin in bed and thought of this board and the way some you guys have posted about friends you have lost. So I got up and switched on the computer.
I buried my best friend today. His zx10 hit a tractor that was doing a u-turn on the road. He was killed instantly. He was my track buddy and motorcycle mentor. I still can't believe it, I saw him in the hospital, lying there in his Yanagawa Texports, maybe he's just asleep. He'd had bad ones before, it wasn't the first time I'd been in a hospital with him. I am completely devastated. I wish I had been there to hold his hand or somethin'. I can't imagine riding bikes without him.
His name was Kieran Smyth, a Kawasaki man to the core.

Sorry to read about this macnas. Best thing you can do is put a patch on your leathers to remember him everytime you ride!

So sorry to hear this. Do enjoy thinking back to all the great times you spent together. It will be the blessing that will last for ever and no one will be able to take that away from you. IMHO, that is not a "loss" but a "gift".

Godspeed to your friend.

When it's someone close to you it really hits hard and you realize how fragile, precious, and great the gift of life is...

It isn't the end but just the beginning for your friend so be comforted in that fact...I will say a prayer right now for you and your friend...

God bless you,

Brian

I hope that eyeryone understands that these things are not all bad. What will really scare me is when getting killed on a bike is just as ho hum as getting Killed in a car. As long as it makes the papers and people call me, I am OK, but when it gets to the point that no one calls or tells me about it, then I will be scared!

(Please understand my Humor which is different than most. I say that I am also gald that Black unemployment is not all bad either! WHY? Because the last time there was full black employment, it was called Slavery! SO I never want to see Full employment for Black people! )

Did I say that it is not easy to go through this and you never get used to the idea of someone being "Not Here"?

So Sorry for your loss! The following parable kind of helps me when I'm down. Hope it does the same for you!

A parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule. The mule fell into
the farmer's well. The farmer heard the mule 'braying' - or - whatever
mules do when they fall into wells. After carefully assessing the
situation, the farmer sympathized with the mule, but decided that
neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving. Instead,
he called his neighbors together and told them what had happened...and
enlisted them to help haul dirt to bury the old mule in the well and put
him out of his misery.
Initially, the old mule was hysterical! But as the farmer and his
neighbors continued shoveling and the dirt hit his back...a thought
struck him. It suddenly dawned on him that every time a shovel load of
dirt landed on his back...HE SHOULD SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP! This he
did, blow after blow.
"Shake it off and step up...shake it off and step up...shake it off and
step up!" he repeated to encourage himself. No matter how painful the
blows, or distressing the situation seemed the old mule fought "panic"
and just kept right on SHAKING IT OFF AND STEPPING UP!
You're right! It wasn't long before the old mule, battered and
exhausted, STEPPED TRIUMPHANTLY OVER THE WALL OF THAT WELL! What seemed
like would bury him, actually blessed him...all because of the manner in
which he handled his adversity.
THAT'S LIFE! If we face our problems and respond to them positively, and
refuse to give in to panic, bitterness, or self-pity...THE ADVERSITIES
THAT COME ALONG TO BURY US USUALLY HAVE WITHIN THEM THE POTENTIAL TO
BENEFIT AND BLESS US! Remember that FORGIVENESS--FAITH--PRAYER-- PRAISE
and HOPE...all are excellent ways to "SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP" out of
the wells in which we find ourselves!

I've opened this thread a bunch of times, but never knew what to write. I still don't.

But if it's any help at all, I've been in that position, it hurts, it makes no sense, it makes you think, it makes you question, it will make you crazy at times, it makes you feel. It does all that because you care. And it's ok to care.

My best to his spirit and his family, and my best to you,

Dave

We will all face this reality some day ourselves....It will be us facing the reality of death.....This brings it to home when it happens to someone close to us....

This is why we need Jesus...He lived a sinless life, died a death He did not deserve, and rose from the dead to pay for our debts of sin so that we may have eternal life through Him...Thank You Jesus.
