ZXGirl,
And what do think about husbands having the security of a wife that doesn't ride, but rides himself?
The "I'm not afraid of dieing, I'm afraid of not living!" type???

Well........I Dunno!!!
I think it is normal for a spouse to worry about his/her significant other!!! If they voice their concern and that is it....that's OK!!!
But if you feel that (by YOU riding a motorcycle) your life is in danger and you STOP your spouse from riding...then that is not right!!! Kind of a "practice what you preach" type of thing!!!!
I am sure and Independent woman (such as you and I) wouldn't stand for that mess anyway!!

none of the listed choices fit
My wife started riding after we met.She enjoys riding her own bike as well as on the back of mine. She is getting better. If someone is scared to ride then they shouldn't.
I also scuba dive which is a considered dangerous sport too. One time when I was getting ready to dive at a fla. spring this older lady came running up to me and said " you're not going in that cave are you? There's a dead guy in there" I told her yes I was but if I saw him I'd bring him up,how's that? You should have seen the look on her face! I made my dive.
If you can't run with the big dogs stay on the porch.

I'm getting closer and closer to getting my wife on a bike of her own. She won't ride with me because she thinks her ass looks fat up there. So far we share astronomy, archery, shooting and camping. May as well throw bikes into the mix. I gotta say though, if my riding really bothered my wife I would quit. It would hurt, but better me hurting than her anguishing over the feared loss of a husband. Just my .02

Are you one of us or one of them???
PK...Why is it that everytime we have a post about Men being Men and saying Man things, you take offense to them???
I see you as a woman that hangs out with the Men, because you hate the nonsence of the girlie girls out there!!! You bust balls and joke around just like us Men!!! I bet all your friends are guys??? Am I right???
If so, then why do you hate when we make those Manly comments???
Comeon PK, pick a side and stick to it...

FYI.......CrotchRocket!
Just in case you haven't figured it out! PK has girlie girl friends!! I should know, I am one of them!!!!
She is the coolest chick around! I am not just saying that because she rides and I don't, I am saying that because I know her and I understand her.
She rides with the best of them and she will stand the test of time, with all her friends by her side.
Whether I ride or not, she is my friend.
and another thing, dont stand to close to either of our beers.....for I do not see fear through these eyes.

Why is it that WOMAN never answer the QUESTION???
PK...I'm not talking about you and your husbands relationship!!! I'm talking about the things that the guys post here, and how you take offense to them!!! If you hang out with the MEN, then you have to deal with the Manly comments... I'm just asking why you take offense to them???
Sassy...I wasnt making fun of your buddy, just saying that I think she preferes the company of the guys because there is no girlie girl nonsence to deal with!!! Obviously if you hang out with PK, then you dont act like the dramatic girlie girl... I ask again, am I right??? SHEESH...

My wife is sooooo cool.
She didn't even know what a bike was until I met her. She started liking riding with me, and (even though I crashed my 12) she wants her own bike so we can ride together!!! WOW!

Personally....
I perfer that she ride her own bike. Shes 5'8" and 160 lbs and it ain't/wasn't no fun haulin her ass around on the 9R. She hasn't been on the 12 yet and I don't plan on putting her on there unless she's driving it. She has the endorsement and will be starting out on an EX500 this spring. Hopefully the next time we ride on the same bike together it will be on a BMW or GoldWing. She's not a big girl but riding her around is a lot more work than I like to do when I riding. Kinda takes the fun out of it. Now that she has some road experience and a new bike is forth coming our riding together should go to another level.
If she felt that riding was too dangerous, she better buy some good insurance on my ass cuz I ain't quittin no time soon. I was riding before we got together so in my mind it would be an unreasonable request or demand for me to stop now. It's part of who I am, take it or leave it.

Good Luck...
On one of my first rides in traffic I was stopped in the left hand turn lane. My bike stalled as the advance left signal came on. I started my bike in a bit of a panic, and gave it too much gas. Then I saw the white van coming the other way, turning right. Did a bit of target fixation and turned wide. Pulled out at the last minute and made the turn without any Drama.
Fish made me pull over.
I never saw Fish so white.
I was all like, "What? That's how I wanted to make that turn..."

BMW, You may want to put some flush mount signals on the EX500. My parts guy has one and according to him the stock signals will trash the fairing in a tipover by pushing through it. Bit of a design flaw. Don't know if the new ones are the same, worth a look.
