Banning Members
I would like to see how many friends this makes.
It is obvious me that Norm has absolutly nothing positive to contribute to this board/forum in a postive or constructive manner. He has been vocal about the fact he enjoys when other riders have gone down, as well as enjoying the fact that others are having problems with there bikes.
This as I recall is a place for people with common interests to meet and discuss things that are relevant (mostly) to a love for riding, and norm seems to have missed the boat.
To drive home MY THOUGHTS, which most of you where fortunate enough to miss at the last gap trip. When his dumb ass launch a full beer can at us.
It has been the practice of the moderators and admins to "Keep Us On Track" and I think you all should be considering "Removing" this asshole from the board.
Being this is a Democratic society... Why not have the memebers vote on this?

Seriously, other than a whipping post, WTF good is he??? You people that haven't met this guy don't know how fucked up he really is. I say we vote, and whatever the votes decide, is what we do. If the votes say ban the prick, then the moderators need to man up and do it. If it says let him stay, then by god the man should stay. I don't know who would want him to stay, but hey it's your vote, use it wisely.

Since I've been tied up with the race team and political season at work, I have not had the time to read every post on every thread of this forum.
I am familiar with several posts you might be referring to, but there must be some that I have missed since the ones that I am aware of would not warrant such a response as to ban anyone.

Not that I disagree with anything you are saying, but a few points here guys.
1. I'm sure there are plenty of people that don't care about the homo phobic banter spewed out by a lot of people here but they wade through it and don't object to it publicly. Some (not me) may consider it more annoying than Norm's comments.
2. If you let someone bug you then they will bug you. Ignore them then they will go away.
3. Calling for a vote may be a bit useless. These boards are a dictatorship, not a democracy so unless someone in the admin group thinks the way you do the vote is a bit useless.
Now about the bear can deal. That was one of the most stupid things I've seen done among "friends" in a long time. If you can't take or don't like someone picking on you then you're in the wrong group and need to get out. Peacefully.
I'm not a violent person, but I can guarantee if that thing had hit anyone then there would been an ass beating of epic proportions that would have followed. Maybe followed by that annoying "we gotta dump the body somewhere" thing that typically follows a beating like that in the woods.
The next morning I would have expected someone that wanted respect after that to have met with each indivudual that was there and in the target area and give an apology in an attempt to put things right, because we all can do stupid things at times and maybe there would have been some understanding.
But since that didn't happen, Rick, I'm betting he doesn't realize much. I miss you Barto

okay.. here's the deal... as memberships knows, we rarely censor, edit , delete blah blah blah here... The site and the quality of the members has helped self-police this place since it was created...
The majority of the original members came here because they were tired of the BS on LAB.
the few "rules" (unwritten but understood) we have enforced have remained the same:
-keep people's families out of it.. totally off limits...
-dont piss off our few sponsors.. wanna advertise? buy ad space.. this isnt a "Las Vegas" style strip mall ala dale's site and we're happy with mininal advertising.. we arent here to make money...
-truly offended by something directed at you? email us and we'll remove it at your request (I've gotten shit for this in the past from members who dont realize that I removed something be request)... all we ask is that you OWN UP to the membership when they ask where the topic went...
- break the law and you can be banned. Rules here mirror the real world...
You can say "I think harry's a fuckin idiot" or "harry's a gay ass fag"... but you CANT say "I will kill black_valkyrie next time I see him" that's a threat... it's against the law and it'll earn you a ticket out of here.
Now.. please ... get along everyone! I havenet seen Norm threaten anyone yet.... he's a damn good fisherman though.. I'll give him that!
Do we need to post these basic rules somewhere?

I read the options, and thought about it for a minute.....I really dont care whether or not he comes or goes, or really what he says after his incident at the DG, and his posts on here. Personally I just wish that there was an IGNORE button here, like there is on most chat programs. As far as banning him, I dont see the point in banning him when he can make a new name and come back......
I just wish he would man up.....and open himself a can of "Act Right"........JMO

He didn't understand the smackhouse concept and got burned. He tried matching wits with Bart and it just didn't work out in his favor, so instead of laughing at himself (as we all did) he got pissed. I doubt he'll show up to any of the DG events anymore, so who cares ? Like he said WE were, he's literally just pixels on a screen and nothing of any significance other than the funny stories we'll be telling at future DG events... and oh how entertaining those stories are.
So let him have his midnight rides on the CheroLALA, his Bud koozy, his 50psi rear tire, and his missing shoe that's with the aliens... and let him be. The biggest punishment he could get is just living his miserable little existance where he's at.
Besides... his posts are quite entertaining

Gotta say I judge people the way they act me. I meet Norm and we had some good riding at Daytona and he seemed perfectly Normal there... I don't know why he has these spells on the boards and gets so pissed at everyone. But I would ride with him again. We rode had a great time.
I don't hold it against someone till they make it personal with me... Would like to Go to Ohio and ride with Ninjadude,Norm,Venom and Alexxx one day...

Okay, I read the thread in question. Looks like a perfect example of "self policing". No need to ban anyone. Some talks stupid shit = members deal with it in their own way. Looked pretty effective to me.

...btw...I'm not for banning, but I find it curious as to why some people would defend norm's behavior and actions...norm's M.O. and reason has already been explained ad nauseum...because its fun?...because its interesting?...sure, fun is fun, and some things are interesting enough...but norm has crossed some very important lines with some of your membership here...he basically shit on the board and some of its members...UNSOLICITED and they think he means what he says (or tries to say)...some who have posted their thoughts here have actually met this jerk and have experienced his jack-ass behavior...who and what do you believe?

Fish I guess my question is whats the point in banning him, if he wanted to he or anyone, could make another profile with a ficticious name and profile information, and be right back on the board, unless there is a way to block an IP addy, but even that changes if you are on a broadband ISP?
Or am I way off on this?

HDL, what fish is so eloquently trying to say is that banning someone isnt jsut banning their user account, it's not allowing them to create a new one either. u ban the person, not the account. there are (imperfect) ways of implementing that.
