Gearbox failure on my original 12
The warranty will cover it I was told today. It was exactly what I told them it was. The bearing inside the gearbox behind the countershaft sprocket.They said the shaft had welded to the bearing and they had to cut it off.He said they were putting lots of new parts in as I guess the failed bearing particles had fucked up some other stuff.
He said my clutch steels were blue and slightly warped and would not be covered under warranty(no shit!!).He then said it looked like there were some aftermarket plates in it. I told him all the parts in the clutch were OEM kawasaki 2mm steels and that the 1st small fibre and spring washer had been replaced with a large fibre. I told him kawasaki sold 1.4mm,1.6mm(stock) and 2mm steels and my bike had all 2mm plates. I told him I would bring him some new plates and fibres.
It will be a little while before I get my bike back but they have my parts on order.
I'm glad I had another 12 to ride while that one is in the shop.
I don't know if you guys remember but the original mechanic said he didn't hear anything wrong.He no longer works there.

The warranty expired on april 23rd. I took it in about 2 weeks before the warranty expired. I'm glad it didn't wait another month before it went out.I always used good oil in it and changed it often.

It wouldn't have cost me too much (i have 2 spare complete gearboxes).Just got to order some new clutch parts.
