Will this work? Is it legal? What's a cop to think?

What do you all think of this:

Also, be sure to check out the little video of it in action on the same page...

Ah, but it does not obstruct the view of a traffic enforcement official observing the plate from a car or motorcycle. You'd have to be onna horse to notice any difference. And it can be classified as a 'protective cover'.

key word: obstruct

if anything obstructs the clear view of the plate, be it permanent or temporary, then its illegal...clear "protective covers" are sometimes allowed...check with your local statutes...

...believe it or not a person could get cited for that, too...also trailer hitch knobs...its one of the reasons (besides another revenue generating tax bill) trailers have license plates...something to ID the wheeled object on the road with...so if you're not trailerin', ya' should remove that ball

but see if you watch the video, the view is NOT obstructed at all when viewed from directly behind the plate....it's only to the left and right angles it is hard to see....

besides, the police say they cant read the license plate but they have no problem reading it as they stand there and are calling it in...

...yo dp...just tryin' to keep my sportbike bruthas informed izall...use only as necessary, your results may vary...

...btw, bb...if the cop has any 'reasonable' reason why he couldn't read the plate from any angle, its probable cause to stop and detain...so you go to court about it for a motion hearing (motion to suppress evidence ie. the reason the cop stopped you), and the judge will ask why the cop couldn't read the plate, and its discovered that the 'protective cover' has the ability to obscure the plate from the sides...and you or the cop introduce the ad for the 'protective cover' product and ALL of its claims...BRRRRRAAAAPPPPP!!!!!...there is sufficient evidence for probable cause...motion denied!...you lose...sign here ...

...hey, I'm not saying don't do it cuz' no matter what anyone says, some people are just going to do it anyway...I'm just saying that if you do and you get caught, be prepared for a fun fight in court...cops hate to lose

good Ol' Spokane City Police will ticket you for nothing more than a piece of clear plastic over your plate.

I had a chrome show frame with a clear plastic cover on my 4x4.
The wife was driving it around town and one of Spokanes finest saw fit to give her a warning ticket for an obstructed plate.
