Very Funny!! Bergie is also Correctumando! I will copy from another thread!
"I will say it now! After everything that has happened (and Still Hapening "Just found that 2 of the wrist Pins were .866 as opposed to .827)) to keep me away from Maxton this weekend." (These were from JE of course but I have been trying to be cool about this!)I just got e-mail at home! They are shipping the pins red label today! That is as good as can be done plus an Apology! Like I said to them, this was possibly the insurance to keep me safe last weekend!
"When you get to be my age, you really start watching Everything as it goes together. I spent close to 3 hours with the rubber abrasive wheel rounding all of the sharp edges and then Jewlers Rouge and small buffing wheel to polish everything. Now I am sure that nothing on the piston will be glowing and set off pre-ignition (More than normal)" (I can shave in with the tops of the pistons now)
"I am Anal Retentive when putting an engine together because I feel it is all of the little things that make all of the differences." (And who did not know this?)
I have run the Brush through the cylinders, Fitted the Pistons at .0025 at the Skirt so that about .500 above the skirt where the piston is .0005 smaller for about .003 clearance for the NOS heat I will be using. I set all of the RIng gaps at about .018 since .016 was the Minnium. On the Oil control rings, I squeeze the rings lightly and if the ring curves upI put it on the bottom and then I make sure that the curve "Down" is on top. There is a difference in how these rings should be placed on the piston.
I sent back to Cometic the Base spacers and saved $85.00 over the ones I got from Falicon. I sprayed the .060 with the Copper coat Spray Adheasive (Both sides) and then another wet coat to stick it on the cylinder base. I made the piston Ring Compressors out of an old Piston ring compressor buy sliceing it 4 times and putting dimples at the top and then bending the ends 90 degrees after wrapping it around the pistons. I use 4 pairs of Vice Grips. I have 2- 1/2 inch round steel rod that I wrap with tape to support the pistons and not harm the engine base when I install the pistons in the cylinders. I will be using a stock Kawasaki Head Gasket. I glue (Spray adheasive) a large sheet pf 600 grit wet & Dry Sand Paper on a flat plate and clean the head and cylinder that way.
Right now, I have the head on a set of USD "Y" Mounts and I am cleaning up the intake ports to match them with the inlet boots (Sometimes the boot with the port) , Installing the APE Springs over the exhaust side only.
Last, I enlarged (about 1/16 inch) the the oil drain holes in the cylinder block , base Gasket and engine I am not enlarging anything in the head but I do want everything that wants to leave the head able to get away
This is right where I am at this minute! I have not heard from Mr. Noonan even though I sent him an e-mail with a picture of both boxes yesterday. He can be busy today but he should get in touch with me by tomorrow if he is there, otherwise I will be calling him.
I will use the Old head gasket to check the compression Ratio and valve / Piston to head clearances before I use the new head Gasket on Final assembly. BTW, I have installed the APE Studs and for the first time in my life I had to buy 2 12 point sockets to fit the nuts WHen I had the pan off my screen was very clean in the oil pick up. I also removed the 3 Muzzy springs and now have all of the HD Schnitz springs in the clutch.
Is this up to date enough?

A before the Port clean up Picture.
About 2 hours of clean up. Just a little matching and ridge removing and "NO" Shape changing! Also no polishing! (On Purpose)
I just messed up the pictures! I was using a small card because it came up faster and just realized that when I uploaded them, the site saw the same number and transfered the picture. The ports and some of the CC is now lost for good! Too much High Tech at 2:30 AM!
The Piston after cleaning , edge removing and polishing.

I will let you know about the NOS set up when I get to it! I plan to break in the engine (250 Miles) with ND 30 Oil. Then 250 Miles with Regular Honda Oil, then Back to the Motul e-tech 100)

11.6 to 1 in that area! The Piston is "Flat" on top, no Dome at all!
I must also add that "Today" at 9:40 AM I got a knock on my door and it was the UPS Driver (Surprised to see me at home) with the to Correct Wrist Pins from JE> I also sent a not to Mr. Noonan to thank him and ask where to ship the other pins to. I plan / hope to have the engine together on Sunday.
Anyone need a Cometic HP Head Gasket for standard Bore Cylinder let me know! (I have 1 for sale "I sold the other one" minus the stickers which will appear on the side of my bike with a red Circle and a Slash through them!)

I would use a rotary file (appropriate shape), cartridge roll, and cross buff in that order. On a pneumatic high speed grinder or electric. I prefer air.

quote: dremel wand?
A flex Shaft Dremel. For the piston the Rubber abrasive wheels have no equal then the Buffers and the jewlers rouge.
The Ports are very easy, There are several grades of sanding drums and I start with the rougher one to remove the side ridges and match the holes. The the next smoother to get the rubber and metal smoother and in correct alignment. Then the smoothest for the finish. Then there are abrasive fiber disc that look almost like round wire wheels that I used to finish the rubber and clean up the finish on the metal. I then took it outside and with the top covered and taped I used the Air Compressor wand to clean out all of the holes. Then Non Chlorinated Brake cleaner to clean out all of the holes and finally with Several layers of paper towels under the head on the mounts, I Pushed down each valve and carefully sprayed and cleaned out the pocket areas until I could see nothing under 500 watts of light. Done in less than 2 hours.
Next time I really need to remove the valves and clean up the the center casting ridges and the rest of the ports completely. I did this just so I would not "Lose" any HP from the mismatched ports and maybe gain a tiny bit. Nest time I will get them completely clean and the proper finish of about 400 to 600 sand paper. I also do not polish the head combustion Chamber because the only thing I worry about is the piston and exhaust Valve (To me the Exhaust Valve is the design limit of any 4 cycle engine and they will be stainless with close to a 1 mm wide lapped seat area as opposed to the .5 to .75 width on the intake side.
Now that I have the other Wrist pins (Installing the circlips is really hard with the JE Pistons , tonight I will install the cylinder and wait for the Stock Kawasaki Head Gasket

Last night I finished installing the Pistons and put the Cylinder on. It did not go as planned. Here is how it started out!
Screw up these pictures also
I could not find the proper size wrench or tool to spread the bars far enough apart and ended up installing the center 2 pistons and then rotating the crank about 90 degrees installed the outside 2 pistons
Pictures are now gone! Actually replaced!
My Ring compressors worked "OK" but I will make the dimples larger because of the taper at the bottom of the cylinders allows them farther than I would like into the cylinders.
It looks like I will have decent Squish Band and tonight I will test the clearances (I do not use clay, I use .090 Lead hollow core solder and a pair of Vernier Calipers) with the used Head Gasket and check my Compression Volume and Ratio with the Burrette (You can barely make it out with the Orange and white end) Hanging on the wall. Note I did not enlarge the Oil return holes "That Much" 1/16 in diameter!
