M1 Sportech wear report

I do love the M1's, ninjaredneck was right , they are a great tire. My set was new when I went to the Gap and after 650 miles of the kinda riding we do there, the rear is pretty much toast, I may get a few hundred more miles out of them here at home. That's kinda depressing, under 1000 miles on a rear. But, hey they are sticky grippers and if you play you pay right?. The front still looks good, will probably dispose of another rear before having to replace the front. One thing I surely liked about these over the 010's is the front end feedback. They inspire much more confidence than the 010's and I thought they were a great tire.

One thing I noticed Rick on inspection is the span of about 2-3" that begins about 1" from the outside edge of the rear, there is a ripple pattern in the rubber. Can you say DARKIES!!! LMAO Love it.

Broke my M1 in at the Gap. Put 1100 miles on it and it's toast now as well. I'm pretty sure the corner EXITS are where it saw the most abuse, lol.

All I can say is.....

I haven't told you wrong yet Otis. I knew you'd like them. Harry is the one who convinced me to try a set. Like I've always said, vs. the 010 I don't think there is a nickels worth of difference as far as grip is concerned. The big difference to me is in the front tire. Seems to give better feedback and very little cupping. My 010 fronts always cupped pretty bad, it's not an issue with the Sportecs.

you silly fukrs would get better mileage out of those tires if you carried more corner speed...and didnt come out of the corners like bats outta hell.....lol I know its not as much fun right.....lol

I have been a fan of the M-1's since I tried them, and everyone I know that has run them has raved about them. You cant beat them for the money....a new set delivered for less than $200.....not many tires that you can get for that price......

the rear is worse....

that set of tires is shot, 400 miles or so on them. rear is bald from about 1/3 from center to the left edge. i'm putting those tires on the bike for the trip to floriduh this weekend ;P save the nice round new tires for real riding

speaking of which i need to order some more tires....barber motorsports trackdays june 19/20

Doug,
I've been running them for close to 2 years now and I think they're a great tire, especially when you factor in the $$$$$. When did you first try them???

I commented on the fact that the M1 fronts don't seem to cup very much, but I left out another important thing. The M1s seem to work the same from the time you scuff them in to the time they are ready for the dumpster. What's your take????

Ninjaman,
'Zactly. I've been running Metzelers almost exclusively (and always on the Bonneville bikes) since 1990. I got my M-1's I think fall of 2002.

When drag racing, after a while the center will get wore out and real hard. Makes for some nice rolling 2nd gear burnouts down the track though, lol. They do last a long time though

I really like M-1's. I've been using them for a couple of years+. They are the best tires for the $$ in my opinion!
