What a great time
To all my brothers, it has been just a few days since you all when back home and to me it feels like years. From the day you all got there to the the day you left it was a great time for all to have. Today sucked because we had to all go back to work and start the regular bullshit all over again. The only thing that kept me sane was thinking about all the great times we had during the week and looking forward to the next trip.
You know what the coolest thing about the trip is? Its the fact that even though I've only hung out with these guys for no more than a few days at a time over the last three years, I feel like they are my long lost brothers that I've known for years and who I know would be there for me if I ever needed them. That's more than I can say about some of my friends and family that live near me. When the guys come down, every one gets to be foot loose and fancy free and there is no fakeness to any of them. They are who they are, and its easy to appreciate them and respect them for that. Just like the "band of brothers" that you find in the military, these guys can party hard together, ride each other hard, work hard, and always have each others back. I've been in the military for seven years, and its easy to pick the good out from the bad. And all the guys in the smackhouse crew can hang out in the fox hole with me anyday. We missed Sherman and Jon this year though, because each one of these guys fill a unique part of our puzzle for a wonderful time.
It's amazing that so many different types of people from different places (yankees and rednecks), can come together and share so much comradery, and not let the petty issues of life get in the way of sharing their passion. It only goes to show you that when you have common interests in life, the things that we thought were big in our world don't amount to a fucking hill of beans. It's a hell of alot easier to become friends with somebody when you don't have the underlying issue of the all mighty dollar. Not that it matters much to these guys anyways because they don't give a shit anyway. I'll stop the political bs, I'm starting to sound like Sherm.
I could break down every minute of every day and tell you what a great time we had and how unique each individual is, but these guys know how special they are to me and what their own special qualities are. Thanks to the new guys that came down and I look forward to seeing you again in Sept. And I hope anyone else on the board will try to make it down in Sept too that hasn't come yet.
ps- 35 hours and my shit still ain't clean.

Mark the only way you will be completely happy with how clean that bike is, will be if you send it to Brett to be painted again.....lmfao
I hear ya brotha on the comrodery, its a wonderful thing and one that is found far to little in our everyday endevors. Its refreashing to find it at our DG events....is it September yet?????

Indeed it was a great time Mark and I miss all of you. A week of excess for sure. As I get older with more responsibility at home and work it becomes glaringly obvious that I need, for my mental health, time away from things. I am just very very fortunate to have met a group of brothers that share the same passion for riding beyond all reasonable limits, partying like it's the last night ever and throwing conventional wisdom out the door. I have many friends here at home and even though I have known them since high school, they are not my brothers like you fellas are. I have not been in the military but am aware of the bond between fellas that comes from it, I agree with Mark about the comparison here. When you ride like we ride you put a piece of your life in others hands, the trust is key. It's nice to know that at least one of the guys will want to ride with you at whatever pace that may be. Whether it be Mark hanging with Dave or Harry going with me, it doesn't matter. On Thursday the last riding day for some of us, Rick and Big Mike were just going to take it easy and go to the dam. When Bart and I and Harry and Jim met them at COT and were pumped about hitting the Cherahola, they quickly changed their minds and came along on what was the best riding day for me. THAT fired me up. You can always count on your brothers. Someone there, no need to mention names, mentioned to me that I couldn't trust you guys. Nothing pissed me off more than hearing that and a usually calm and reserved Otis nearly went ballistic. That was the only down part of the trip for me.
What Dave wrote in the other post is critical, "What happens in Townsend, stays in townsend" It couldn't be more true. I know when I am there with you fellas I can be as big an idiot as possible and do the stupidest shit imaginable and it doesn't matter a lick. That my brothers is freedom to the 9th degree and one that is not forgotten on this guy. I was smart when I got home, the first thing I did was kiss my wife, look her straight in the eye and said said "Thank you, thank you so much for taking care of our girls by yourself while I went down there for a week with my brothers, thank you." She saw in my eyes what it meant to me and that I needed it.
Thanks for the awesome week fellas, I'm sure come September we'll be at it again.

Well said Mark, well said indeed.
I am still sort of in a haze after DGVII,not a chemically induced haze either.  It's hard to put into words, but all you guys know what I'm talking about. I guess I've come back down to earth so to speak. You never want to see an event come to a close, but you know going into it that it must, and will. I tried not to think about it much, but when I rolled Lil' Red upon the trailer last Thursday afternoon it was with mixed emotions for sure.
I had an awesome time, one of the best I've ever had for certain. We didn't let the rain or anything else dampen our spirits. We are definitely gonna have a good time when we all get together, no matter what. I could sit here and type for days and probably never do the event any justice.
Who here wouldn't love to be sitting out in front of the cabin after the days ride, kicked back in their lawn chair with a cold one in hand, listening to all the laughter and smacktalk? Sounds simple eh? That's the beauty of it all my friends. 
I miss you dumb bastards already.

Yep, May and September. But be aware, we kill an average of 1,250,000,000 brain cells each trip which is 2.5 billion brain cells a year. So be careful physics boy, if you want to graduate.

I feel the same way as most of the people that go to the DG events. There is a close bond between all of us that ride together in the mountains. It is very similiar to the comaradarie between military people that serve together.You guys are probably closer to me than most of my friends I have here in my hometown.I really enjoy spending time with you guys ,both riding and socializing after we get done riding.
I appreciate the time that I have been given to spend at these events.I will always remember how much fun we all had. Thanks ... harry

Voz you just need to bring your ass to the event in September, and be part of the riot known as DG...instead of sitting on yer duff and being jealous....you wont regret it, I had a blast this year and I was riding my 6RR.....same goes for all of you all, you dont know what you are missing out on until you go to one.....
