Which Brake lines.
Been thinking about upgrading brake lines. How about brand opioions on which to use and which to not, Muzzy, Spiegler, Gafer...etc?

I got mine from Muzzys...I love em. I just wish they came in different colors aside from the standard black, but oh well....I love em! See my thread about braking power on the 12 board...

I got a set of Goodridge. I love them, made a noticeable improvement in lever feel and stopping power. Mine are clear covered steel braided. They look nice too but not too flashy.

I have the same one Wrenis, and I like them on my 600, so I got a set for the 12, have yet to put them on though....

Yeah lrg has the Spieglers and I like how he could at least pick what ya want the colors to be on the ends and the line itself.
Not that it matters, for its all cosmetic at that point, I am extremely happy with my Muzzy setup and the performance I am getting out of them.

I am leaning towards the Spidgler lines, anyone know any reason to go another route , or deals on them? I like the color thing to Beans.

My concern with the lines is that they dont give you the play that ruber does and in panic situations that is a plus. I have been told by a person that ss lines is not better for street riding beacuse if you aply he brakes in panic the bike lowsides or trow you of the bike.
Im thinking HH pads, ruber hose and radial pump.

brake control, just liek anything else, if you cant teach yourself to control your emotions in a panic situatioin, you have no buisness on a bike, and good lines give much better feed back than rubber.....

Dude....stop smoking crack and learn some braking skillz yo....
Tell me why brake line expansion is a good thing??? Panic situations?? You need more seat time... then you wont panic.

I know that the brake is not ON/OFF lever, Im beyond that. My only conrcern is that I will over power the bikes grip 2 soon.

Marcos... find an abandoned road... mark off some small areas (12"x12" )with spray paint to use as brake markers. Then work from 40mph on up and try to get your wheel within the markers.
Try stopping with just the front. Then just the rear. Then with both, etc.
Try to do a stoppie (full front brake at 15mph +) on purpose.
Explore the limits of your brakes in a controlled enviornment.

Uh... all ZX12s come with HH pads and damn good ones too. You may wanna run a green scotchbrite pad over the rotors incase they've glazed over some.
I still wanna try the Muzzy carbon ones.

just dont use to rough a grit on the sand paper...use a very fine cut, and just rub lightly over thge disc.....and clean them well after.....
The advice Turbo gave on controling your braking and teaching yourself brake control is great.....but you need to take it one setp farther as well. After you get that excercise down pat, move on to doing the same thing, while turning. See how applying the brakes while leaned over effects the sterring of your bike. This is another instance where air pressure will play a critical part of how the bike reacts...I have run the stock brakes on my 02 ZX12 now since I have had it, but I have the Goodridge SS brakelines on my desk and the EBC HH+ pads as well....and I will be giong to a Motul brake fluid......I have the Goodridge lines and EBC HH+ pads on my 6RR but still get some brake fade when railing the bike hard through twisties, dues to fluid boil, so I will be changing that out as well....
One thing my dad use to tell me " Its doesnt matter how fast you can make something go, if you CANT stop it!" I live by that with everything I own....I put the best of brakes and pads on all of my vehicles, espicially my truck I tow my tailers with, adn the bikes....would suck to be able to go 200 mph, and not be able to stop.....or hit a false neutral going into a corner to hot and not get the expected engine braking.....
Marcos, just alwasy remember, SQUEZE the front lever, dont pull or yank it, if you do that you will feel the front tire lose traction gradually or feel the rear tire start to come off the ground, and be able to adjust the pressure on the bar accordingly.....
