Oil don't drip off the plates thats for sure.It just gives the clutch that little bit more of a mist.

Oil should never "drip off the plates". Four years of pretty much trouble free experience has shown that we've go it just about right.

Help, i've got a problem.
00 zx12 with 6" arm geared 17-50.
billet basket , muzzy clutch mod, 6 heavy springs and the puller shaved
still blueing steels every 1 or 2 trip to the track.
track day is usually 6-7 passes over 4 hours. Bike pulls 1.46 to 1.49
with new clutches. I don't hot lap!
I have a stack of clutches the height of a small child. Steels cleaned with brake cleaner and fibers soaked at least one hour.
What else can i do?

So you're saying you get 12-14 passes on a "set" of steels? You need to learn to slip the clutch less. Having said that, let me suggest you try something akin to the way we treat the clutch on Rickey's shootout bike. I'll tell you what I do and you can judge how often you need to do it or something like it.
(And yes I know "it has a lockup" but you must remember, that doesn't have anything to do with launching. Rickey just slips that clutch perfectly).
After EVERY RUN I pull the clutch. I look at each plate and only change the ones that really need it. To me, that means fibers that are "wiped" sideways without sharp edges, and steels that have more than 30% deep blue, almost black spots. I usually end up changing around 3 steels and 2 fibers per run.
The point is don't wait until all the plates are shot. Bad ones cause more heat and make more bad ones. Work out a progressive maintenance schedule and see if that does not help. Even given your present technique, you may be able to go alot further.
As far as preparation goes, take your spare steels, clean the cosmoline off of them with contact cleaner or acetone. Take your spare fibers and simply wipe some oil on them with your fingers (NO need to "soak" them or have them dripping) and stack them with the steels in a ziplock bag. Just pull them out as you need them.

i did say set, but usually it's not the entire set. Some blue, some hot spoted, some are good. I'm a Test-N-Tune junkie, so pulling the clutch between runs is a little much for ME at the track. I pull it on the weekend and replace the steels when i have new, otherwise i sand and wash the best set i can pull from the pile. reused never last as long, nor leave as hard. No real problem with fibers
You say Ricky blues 3 steels per pass, that's less than 5 passes a set. WOW
I'm almost burning clutches like a pro.
Thanks Doug

Welcome to the ZX12R dragracing world!!! I (well Kzz1) replace the clutch (bad pcs) every other trip to the track!!! We have estimated the average "Clutch" expense to be about $75 every trip.

I've gone over a season (100+ passes) without replacing any clutch parts. You guys are making me feel really good about my decision to go with the wheelie bars and slick.

yeap that sounds about right.
Are you just beating up the steels or fiber damage also. I still don't get much oil to the clutches.

Is there any way that you can put a Muzzy Basket and Clutch kit in and not adjust it right, so that the clutch wears faster than it should? I'm worried... I put mine in about 1000 miles ago and it seems sooo smooth, almost like it slipping a bit.
