Lowering front forks question?

Hey I was under the impression for the last couple years that you could NOT lower the front end by adjusting the front forks because they are tapered and will chance slippage and of course busting into the bike....is this true?

Otherwise, how much can you drop the bike in inches just by readjusting the stock front forks?

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I suggest only 1 inch. You can go a bit more if you put the thick hose clamps around the forks under tripple trees.

I am assuming you mean one inch from it's stock position? Do all of the years of the 12 have the same stock height on the front bars?

Also Cowboy, where do you recommend for those thick hose clamps?

one inch is a good bit....unless you are drag racing or a short mofo, why would you lower the bike at all?

I run mine 3/4 inch down.I think MadMike said he's at 1 1/2 inch down.Hose clamps would go around the forks right under the tripple trees so they could not slide up any farther.I don't run the hose clamps because I'm only at 3/4

Yea..im down 1" currently..but after removing the snorkel and doing some measurements...where the top clamp hits the increasing taper is about 3.5 total inches down...however without the snorkel/ram air setup...this might just be perfect!

Lower them internally. You can lower a good 2 3/4" with the blocks!

Cowboy... you can buy the blocks or have someone like Harry fab them up for ya for cheap.
You can decide how low you want to go. 2" would be a good start. Any lower on a stock 12 and the lower fairings drag.
