WHY IS INSURANCE SO MUCH$$$$$????

I know this topic has been brought up in the past but I am having a problem. Many of the board members have reasonable rates but I have called all over and have been quoted between 3000-5000$$$ a year. I am 29 married with no tickets or accidents.

3000-5000 is rediculous, I could buy a new bike in 3 years if I dont carry insurance. I reall want insurance. I have alot to lose but I am not going to allow someone to bend me over

I should inform you this is for the 12 and my VTX but the VTX is only 600 a year, so the problem is with the 12.

FYI I always get full coverage including un-insured/under-insured cuz of too many (4) "hit & runs." Add additional 100/300K, etc.

I pay <$700 a year for my 00' ZX12R Ninja.

It's <$300 a year for the 99' ZRX1100.

I use McGraw (Pacific Speciality Insurance) which seems to have the best rates in THIS area (CA), but always looking for better rates. I've been using them since the mid-seventies & they seem pretty good...

I griped about the difference, & my agent says 93% of the ZX12R owners have a claim in the first year. : That's why its so much more...

I use State Farm in Brevard County. It was less than $600 a year but they don't offer PIP; this means any injury you incur is claimed under your health insurance at work. Not bad ... because mine at work was a $75 max co pay at the hospital versus 80% coverage on PIP. The downside is any riders are your liability.

cheapist insurance....

is not always the best insurance! Check what the company is offering with premiums paid. Sometimes paying 10 bucks a month will go a long way in better coverage.
As for why its SO MUCH!!!???... It's the insurance company's way of saying - We do not wish to insure you and your ride -
And if you think its expensive, look at it this way, pretend
its your million bucks and you are going to insure someone with a busa, 12r/9r, R-1/6, cbr-anything and you have to give it up "IF" something bad happens! It's a crap shoot. Bad return don't you think. You get $1000 dollars for putting up a Million!
I know this is an over-simplification, but!

I have State Farm as well. I pay $416.00 per year with full coverage year round with a multi car discount & $500.00 Ded. I am 33 and have no accidents since 1990 and that was a cage accident that was not my fault. Everytime this topic has come up on the boards in the last year State Farm seems to have been the lowest cost, if I remember correctly.

im screwed no matter what Î do.

You're definitely getting boned. I'm 20 and I pay less than 3k a year in insurance through Progressive. I've checked out State Farm and their rates were the same. Plus I've got a car through Progressive too so I get the multi policy discount.

I have State Farm and they STILL insure me after they totalled my 00 12 last February. My new 00 12 is about 680 a year, but well worth it to me.

State Farm..........

I pay a little under $500 a year for full coverage on the 12. Have my house and my autos insured with them as well. They paid me very well for my '99 ZX11 I totalled back in september of 2000, and my rates did NOT go up at all. My agent told me the reason why it didn't go up, but damned if I know all that insurance lingo. I heard what I needed to hear, and snatched that fuckin' check up and went and bought the 12R.

I'm convinced. State Farm is getting a call from me. I pay $550 a year even though I have three cars, a business and three houses insured. I think I can do better.

STATE FARM is definitely the best price and very reasoneable. but I have to give them our cars. because of my wifes accident last year, state farm wants to charge he 1200 more a year then we pay now. There goes the good rate. With that considered, state farm is just as expensive as the rest.

i asked if we could keep my wife insured where she is and they said "no".

I think they are jacking with you there. I moved 1 car with cheap liability only there and got the good rate on my 12..... Try another agent and try to move just your stuff and not the wifes may pull it off..... Hell the car I moved there was only a 500 dollar junker.... Worst case may take your wifes name off your vehicles and then try as you only....They want to jack with us there is a way around it....Good luck....

Hmmmmm........

zx9r you might want to talk to another State Farm agent in your area. Some of 'em are pretty good guys, and some of them aren't. We have two different SF agents locally and there IS a difference. Some of them are willing to help you save money, others try to jack your ass and get as much $$$$ out of you as possible.
